I'm really not sure what all of you are trying to argue. You seem to switch to a new argument every few posts.

The reason is quite simple: We're a business, and we strive for continuity. Releasing information such as this could potentially ruin our place in the market. It's one of the big advantages on people wishing to join the bot market. In fact, why would anyone join it, if not to make money. It's silly to devote so much time to a bot , and get nothing in return. All the bots (CoAI,COG,Chrome) have quite a lot of complex features that are a result of constant development over time.

Not only that, but it also comes down to abusing such things. It is often new developers, with an intent to learn, but also have fun who abuse features or bugs. For all anyone knows, he could potentially log in few hundred characters, annoy someone at TQ, and cause another change in their anti-botting system.

Now, if the case were different, and it was another game, where everyone was developing, and there wasn't a lot of general development, you'd likely see a lot more of us contributing; but that's simply not the case. Conquer has been around for a very long time, and proxies/servers have been around for almost as long a s the game it's self. We've reached a stage where there's just no reason to coordinate public development anymore. We've reached the apex of reversing CO, where any more we code is likely to be layers on top of the whole packet encryption, anti-bot, networking, etc.

Small edit: bone-you, you weren't the only active participant in the CO Community. I'm quite sure nearly all of the remaining big developers have at one time or another helped the community just as much as you, if not more. (not implying that you haven't submitted content as well)

tl;dr - It's a business.

Not sure I understand your point in the bolded statement. I know I wasn't the only active person, nor have I said I ever was. I get that it's a 'business', but that is what has brought the community to what it is now. Everyone hoarding information. The way I see it is there's no more reason to release anything only when the game stops being played.

What's humorous though, is that (if I recall), people claimed that the new encryption was so easy to break each time, yet are concerned about it being changed again. Would it not be rather simple to just reverse again? If it stopped being useful to TQ to keep changing it, they'd stop changing it. Their efforts in changing it are successful and will continue to be so only because the few that can reverse it keep it private. The same could be said for the anti-bot. After all, what's the point in spending resources into changing encryption or anti-bot if it's broken right away? It's just a waste of money for TQ as they have to pay to change it, and it'd be broken for the sake of the community no charge.

Back to my question of why the hell does thr community need the anti bot? They don't. Anything they do need is publicly available, stfu.

Why should everyone be denied it just because you can't think of a good reason? What would you do if someone who could reverse everything went and released it all? Would you get all pissy at them? Would you attempt to sabotage the current system with mass 'abuse' to spark a reaction from TQ to change it so that you may attempt to retain your grip over the bot market? When I first registered on your site after you told me about it, there was an issue with the anti-bot server going offline or something. Pretty much a lot of people using it were being botjailed. You can pretend that never happened all you want.

I also know you can reverse it, which is exactly why I suggested that. I'd argue the only reason it'd create more work for yourselves is because you've forced the community into relying on 'you guys' for such services. The community now revolves around the very few functional 'public' bots. There's little incentive to start from scratch to figure all the information needed, but should the information be available and people make things with it, and it suddenly change, now there's incentive for the entire community to work together.

Giving people a taste of what can be possible can also encourage learning. I learned C++ because I got a taste of an official server source, not because I was told what could be done. Imagine if that server source had never been leaked. I'd have never learned C++, or would have learned at a much later date. If you're so concerned about the information being used, only those that CAN use it could use it anyway. Questions regarding it can be safely ignored if you truly don't want to go the extra distance, but there are plenty that CAN make use of it that would be encouraged to be more part of the community.

This should be closed as it's an endless argument which will eventually go on forever.

1. Hybrid writes a password bypass and releases it.
Result: People look at the password bypass and not the actual technique.

2. I release a way for non C++ users to inject/hook and it even got updated.
Result: No single fuck given, no proper use of the method and no proper thank you.

3. IAmHawtness releases a bot with more than enough growing ability.
Result: People whine about how to get it to work and you all burden him with tasks like adding more features.

It's very plain and simple. Stop getting fucking personal affected by other people's comments about you and whatever you do. It's not bad to ask questions but keep being realistic instead of the dramatic requests. You want something to get done that you can't solve yourself go team up with somebody else with equal or higher capability instead of creating threads with walls of posts that eventually will even exceed the length of the Great Berlin Wall.

No offense but you cant force your stuff down peoples throat or make them use it because you think its good while others don't agree with you... About the 2 other releases that you mentioned above they did a lot of good in this community which you will never absorb as long as you have such expectations
