I've been playing Olympus on the first 3 months (where Level 99 was the level cap) and re-started now on Ody2.
In this review, you will get a detailed review about:
the community
the payment system
the team
some features.
the community
As always, every community has a reputation, some black sheeps, and a truth.
The truth on Olympus Ody2 is, that most families already exist on Olympus and people have their communities already built, however it's easily doable to create a new family.
the payment system and in-game economics
I spent 500+€ on Odyssey, but I feel like the most money is made on high-end raids, so especially on Double-Box Events it's worth it to go raiding for most people.
The Discord
The discord is very well structured.
Active Team, resources/links that help you and a very active support-server.
The Balance
The Game offers a healthy mix of PvE and PvP, however I think most people PvE-players. There's RBB every 2 hours and AoT with 10 entries per day (500k Rep. and 15kk Gold per win), so that's cool.
Especially since you can purchase cheap (10kk) PvP EQ at the arena NPC.
Most updates are very reasonable and the game balancing does a good job overall. Everyone who worked in a balancing-team knows how hard it is to make it fair for all, but that's not possible realistcally.
It's of course not perfect, but they're doing a good job overall.
The Team
Blowa the Founder has an arrogant demeanor and his toxicity radiates down to his team.
Feels like Blowa applied

A healthy community is the team + the community together, however it often feels like "the bad superior olympus team" vs. the paying unappreciated users.
When people ask for help, they usually get very fast replies which is quite nice, however they often reply with "just check the wiki" instead giving a satisfying answer or even adding a hyperlink - because the wiki as actually big af and landing there for the first time is quite overwhelming, which is actually positive feedback for the work of the team.
The reply-times are incredibly good compared to other P-Servers (not even mentioning the trashy official).
The team is not understaffed, and your queries get answered, even though the tone is not always nice and professional - every indian customer support has better emotional control than some people of the olympus team. I'm sure quite a lot people can confirm passive-aggressiveness or impatience towards help-seeking users.
(Absolutely no hate, just brutally honest)
The Game Design is insanely developed.
Customization here is very fun: The Chromas, the wings, the custom titles etc.
If you want to suggest new titles, you can submit a request and let the community vote - that's a plus for community management.
However, a big
downside imo is, that game-suggestions are privately shared with the team and not with the community.
I'm sure this has a background, however I believe, that community-discussions should be encouraged instead of hidden.
The feedback form is great, because it encourages critical thinking and critically questioning ones own suggestion in both ways, just a pity that suggestions are not shared and there is no transparency on balancing-thoughts.
Talking about the game balance:
For PvE I think all sps are quite decent and playable, however due to some certain debuffs - some sps like Berserker will always be preferred.
For PvP, most sps are "okay" and playable, but as usual there are some meta-sps, which - as always - are Scout, Seer, and a few more.
Warrior is probably the strongest PvP sp, Crusaders auto-attack is buggy af (yes it is), but overall the game is quite well balanced.
Customization features such as the wardrobe, wing swapper, changing events, and an active community make Ody2 a fun place to play.
It's not even hard to get good gear, if you raid for 2-3h a day, you farm a lot money, and if you don't gamble it but just slowly invest it in a smart way, you'll be good and can even enjoy semi-competitive gameplay without falling behind.
The only downside compared to NosVoid for example is, that it takes way too long to mount on.
Most of the things were optimized for faster-paced gameplay compared to official servers, but the mounting time feels forever and costs some nerves on the long run because it's really easily fixable and unnecessary.
The
Event Schedule is fantastic.
It would've been cool to add a PSP Up-Event, but honestly it's not necessary, since the events are quite generous and makes the game fun to play and bring variety to the day to day gameplay.
My Dilemma:
So, even though the gameplay is very positive, I've deleted my character, simply because I became addicted to this shit and this cost me some thousands $ worth of my time, so I decided to look for another addiction in my life that has a more positive impact to my life, because this game has the tendency to make me fat, procrastinate and drain my energy. (If you can balance it better, you'll have a good experience, however if you're vulnerable to nostales nostalgia mixed with modern features (they even have one piece-wings):feelsgoodman: and you want to keep your soul, then I recommend not to download it.
Looking forward to Ody3!
