New zygor update out Version: 2.1.27643

However the tool reports the same version number already installed, might need a fix here?

Oh that is so important?

Seems people are so fast to point out an issue but nothing else.
Like yesterday, people went overboard and one started insulting.
When they got what they "Wanted" they were silent as a cemetery.

Yea you want it fixed. Open the file and change the version.

Does the version left by the Dev affect the addon?

The previous update had some issues with the addon version checking, so it doesn't say there's an update for an addon. Maybe it does, but it's doesn't work well all the time.

So I came up with a new way, and it works way better.

Changelog (v2.4):
  • Cleaned a lot of stuff up in the backend.
  • Cleaned some stuff up on the UI.
  • Implemented a much better addon version checking.
  • Added version numbers back in. So it'll show the version you're updating from and to, if it was able to retrieve the version numbers. Otherwise it'll just say (Update Available).
  • Added more error handling.

If you encounter any issues, do not hesitate to make a post.

IMPORTANT:
I suggest doing a completely clean install of the program. (Delete the old version, and extract the new version after).

Download: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
VirusTotal: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

NOTE: The detections in the VirusTotal link is false positives obviously. The reason it detects it as a virus is most likely due to the File.Create/Delete operations I do to delete old version of an addon, and create version file in the addon folder after extraction. Another thing it could be is that the program is not signed, so that could trigger it too.
The MediafireAPI I made is detected too, and that might be due to it scraping the html of the download page to fetch download link.
Hey,

the Downloader ist broken atm. It installes a way older pre Wotlk version of Zygor. Would be nice if you can fix the problem :)

No I'm already using your latest tool, it checks the same link during startup "Twice"...

I debugged your tool.

Not sure why you would check for updates before people have set a path even?

Anyways its this links it wants to download from your latest post 2.4

It's not checking for updates before they have set a path. It can't do that without knowing the path to the WoW folder. The first thing the program does is fetching addon data (download links, addon versions, addon display name, etc. All fetched from a json file), and then caches the upload date from the download link (upload date is used as a fallback method for checking for new updates, if version is not available.), that's why you see it access the link before. It does that all in one go when the program starts.

It's only checking for updates with the cached data for each addon that's installed when you go to the install/update menu.
Reason I'm doing it this way is so it doesn't keep connecting to the link every time you go back and fourth to the install addon menu. Especially if you have multiple updates to install. So it only checks with with the data that was cached from program launch where it's fetching data. One thing I can change though, is do so it only tries to cache the latest addon upload info for the games that are installed. I can do that in a later update.

I updated the link when I wrote the post, and I tested to see if it was correct. I can guarentee it's the correct link. It's downloading the correct version on my end. I don't have to release a new version of the program to update this stuff. It's all in a json file I can change at anytime :-)

And that link you linked, that's for the shadowlands version btw. It hasn't been updated. I only updated the link for wotlk, that's the only one I can see that's updated :-)

I only have Classic installed.

You have since then fixed the correct version to install after I wrote that message.. Perhaps in the json/backend files you use, you might wanna rewrite the download so it does not use cache but ALWAYS retrieves fresh data no matter what

You are still checking those links before a user has set a path or even has pressed wanted to check for update and its still those old versions and that is for shadowlands?, why? I don't know?

This is during the startup where you echo the fetching addons data that takes time 3-5 seconds which make sense with the urls you are pulling

Video

At 1.10 I start the program for the second time while having the other window open that shows you pull this data.

You also write this file every time on startup with unnecessary nuget logs :)

C:\temp\console-example-internal.log

Aslo may I suggest a autoclose window when update is done and as a bonus a little tiny windows beep as optional too, if its not too much to ask for :)

Everytime I attempt to overwrite the TradeSkillMaster.lua , it works then I reload the UI and it creates a .bak file and reset my TSM to default. Am I missing something?
