You have to search the Need for Speed World directory. When you find the folder, enter on data folder, in that folder is the nfsw.exe

Hey I keep getting Error 5. I reinstalled everything (even mitmproxy) and I still get it. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I also only get 2 cmd windows when i click launch server. What happens is, I click "Start Server", 3 cmd windows open, then one closes and right before it does it says : "usage: mitdump-script.py [options] [filter]
mitdump-script.py: error: argument -R/--reverse: Invalid server specification: http2http://localhost:7331/"

It depends on the server build you use.

Earlier ones you have to pass the arguments manually either through a shortcut or through a command-line interface. (Please google how to do that, it's a very simple concept, like the -nocanary flag in Viper Racing)

The later ones (definitely 1.7 beta), the launcher/editor does that work for you, all you have to do is point to the nfsw.exe (NOT LAUNCHER.EXE) wherever you placed it during installation or if you moved it)

The thing is, follow the readme, and you should be pretty fine. If you choose to not follow it exactly, make sure you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. (and do the proper background research by searching)

The steps vary depending on where you installed/unzipped the nfsw client to.
And whether you know where your nfsw.exe application is stored in.

The most general term I can say is search for nfsw.exe (your client's executable) with whatever search program you use and make yourself comfortable with tinkering your computer's operating system.

My installed NFSW directory is in a non-standard location, as I frequently had to hook into nfsw.exe process to extract geometry data. (and I wanted to avoid hidden folders). It will 99% be stored in a different location for everyone else.

Add-on: If you're really stuck, there are some videos on how to setup different server launcher/editor builds on youtube. no need to ask, stuff like hidden folders are very trivial and there are n articles out there explaining how to show/hide hidden folders and files.

I just reinstalled the whole game and server and ran into the dreaded error 5, and so did a few users on a discussion board I browse. I did a bit of investigating and found that the command line used to start mitmdump was wrong. I can't tell where the issue comes from, either a glitch somewhere or an update of mitmdump (probably update, the server installed fine two weeks ago) but I found a quick and easy workaround to keep playing the game until we get a word from the developer team.

1. Launch ServerEditor.exe
2. Click "Start Server". The usual popup should come telling you the server should be running. If you encountered the same issue as I have, pressing "Start NFS World" will just show the error 5, and you may notice only 2 command prompt windows in the taskbar instead of the 3 that should be running.
3. Bring up the Run dialog (Win key + R)
4. Type "cmd /c c:\python27\scripts\mitmdump -p 1337 -R http://localhost:7331/" (without the quotes obviously)
5. Press enter, a blank command prompt should open
6. Back to ServerEditor.exe, press "Start NFS World". The game should launch fine.
7. Once you're done playing and quit the game, select the command window and press ctrl + c to shut down mitmdump

For reference, the wrong command line I've seen is "cmd /c c:\python27\scripts\mitmdump -p 1337 -R http2http://localhost:7331/"

IF it's an update as You stated then why not everyone is getting this issue? I remember having an issue with 1 of 3 cmd windows not opening, managed to fix that by reinstalling java v8u60. But why that "mitmdump" thing doesn't update for all? Is it because I have Windows XP?
