when i edit the game.exe with hex editor how to i insert null bytes?
if i want to change ip from 174.142.118.105 to 127.0.0.1 what do u meen by inserting null bytes?
05/18/2010 05:28 eovogt#531
Well i dont know if anyone will read this since it is on the 50+ page, but ....

when setting up the server do you need to change any of the IP's addresses in the setup patch config from 127.0.0.1?

and the only ip you have to change is in the client game.exe and that to the servers ip?

any response would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

[SQL Native Client] VIA Provider: The specified module could not be found.
[SQL Native Client] VIA Provider: Login timeout expired
[SQL Native Client] An error occurred while connecting to the server. At
a connection to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that allows SQL Server on the defaults no Remote-connections.

You need to allow remote-connections in your SQL. Open your SQL Server Config and check your protocols and make sure they are all enabled and your tcp/ip is setup correctly.

Yes u need to fill it with bytes 00 to make it work. if u dont it will say "not a valid win32 application" if this happens go back to ur hex editor and keep filling with null bytes until it works :)

I have been Googleing away for about 3 hours and have not come up with a solution to a problem that, by my reading of this thread, others do not seem to be having. I am wondering if I am just stupid.

I followed the directions as in the first post on a New XP SP3 install in a Virtual machine. I created a D drive with the SUBST command and have a batch file at startup to make it persistent. Then I installed .net 2.0, IIS, and then SQL Server 2005. When trying to run the install script it gives multiple errors to the effect of not being able to find the files in the PSM_Data directory. The databases do not seem to exist, and I can not restore them manually because my install of SQL Server does not recognize the D: drive at all. If I try to add a new backup device in SQL Server the D: drive is not available in the file browser. The Operating System itself can however locate the drive in both the file browser and from the command prompt.

Any ideas why the batch files and SQL Server are not able to see the existence of my D: drive?

Thank you in advance.

EDIT:
SQL Server runs as a service. This gives it a different context than any logged in user. As such, subst'd drives are not generally available to it.

So . . . What user is everyone using to run the SQL services. Mine run as localservice which I thing is standard and you would need to manually change this unless the computer was part of a Domain and SQL run running as a Domain user. Either way it does not have access to SUBSTed drives - so why does this seem to work for everyone else??

I think you should consider to lower your temper a bit and be glad that people are taking the time and effort to make these kind of Tuts ! They are in fact very useful and have helped me very much with setting up my own p-server.

This forum has a search function and after you have read ALL posts concerning this and you haven't found you answer, then you can ask your questions. But I doubt that you will get any answers after the way you talk in your last post....
