When dealing with connectivity errors on VMWare:

1. Go to Control Panel (on the host PC)
2. Network and Sharing Center
3. Change adapter settings
4. Disable, and re-enable, all the VMWare connections
5. Repair the connection on the VM's end

That always does the trick for me.
