Disagree on that !
A few years ago we used (users) to join random P.servers based on our taste, thread quality,
Cap. regardless who's the owner is.
Simply they're seeking ''majority'' for a stable server with something new to achieve/experience, instead of the same old repeated cycle.

"A few years ago"
Nowadays, you do only join servers made by famed owners.

That's how it works:
A famed server creator made a server and then a famed guild said that they'll join and made videos to promote the server even more and what happens then is the players will follow where the big guilds will go for the competitions and fights.

I know what I'm saying from my experience as a player and server dev.

So why noone playing Araxion if you know from your experience?

Kidding.

People even joined EON tho owners aren't that 'fame'

Do you really believe that Araxion is the only server I worked on? I can name a few if you want.

EON gained players because the timing was perfect for a CH ONLY server. After the death of LVN and Pioneer being CH/EU and it opened before us which ended up having them gaining all CH/EU lovers and it was actually decided though we never gave up and we never will. Also having big guilds supporting them such as EternalGlory and other few guilds encouraged the players to join.

It's not quality people ask for, it's where others will go. I'm sure you yourself realize that if you joined a server with a small playerbase yet perfected every-way it won't be long before u get out of it and go where the others are gathered.

True about the timing, which is a key thing in making a successful server. Although, your server can be perfect on many ways if it ends up pay2win with uncontrolled economy and no new things. Our webpoint & part-part system is pretty new-ish, and since coins are removed/not at all required unlike other servers it also helped. Not to mention the success of eon1. Don't sound like all was about the timing, my friend.
Cheers !:)

Yup true that's another point though universal coin (aka web-point) was suggested many times to the players but no response was gotten whatsoever. Good luck.

Hello, guys!
I have few questions for you.
I know this is semi related to SRO, but here's the perfect place to ask you.

So I just graduated college and got my first low-budget gaming laptop from my first wage.

Specs :

GPU: nVidia 920M, 2GB
CPU: i5
RAM: 4GB

So I can play Blade & Soul on maximum settings except shadows with 60FPS smoothly, it stutters in some areas and a certain blade master skill makes my FPS drop to 10.

I know, the game looks awesome, the details, effects and shaders look amazing but we all have to agree that the game is poorly optimized.Probably because it's a 2009 game ?

Now, I play SMITE too. That 3D action MOBA game.

I run it on maximum settings, shadows turned on, 100-120 FPS all the time, 80-90 FPS when more than 5 people use their ultimate at the same time.It never crashed, the FPS never dropped and I'm amazed by its performance.

Now, here's the thing : Blade & Soul and SMITE are built within the SAME game engine which is, as we all know, Unreal Engine 3.

Here comes the SRO part. I downloaded a random populated SRO P-Server, I logged in, it was so fast that I couldn't even stare at the beautiful customized loading screens.

I tried to turn on the shadows and the game started to go crazy. The FPS dropped significantly and I wonder why.I mean: I can run new games at their maximum settings/performance and haven't had any problem.I know SRO runs in a different game engine, made by Joymax, but it's annoying to play with the shadows on.

I know it's not the best laptop, I'm going to upgrade it soon but I'm still confused about some things.

So, why the FPS is so different even though the games are built within the same game engine ?
Why does the SRO fps drop so hardly when the shadows are on considering I can run better and newer games at their maximum settings ?

Are only the games that are poorly designed/optimized or my laptop is not good enough for them ?

Thanks for reading and I'm yearning to check back for replies, I'd also appreciate if you reply and explain to me why is this happening. :)

SRO shadows are horribly un optimized, dont use detailed shadows, its not just your PC.

Thank you.
I might add that Japanese and Taiwanese Blade&Soul players report no FPS stutters so maybe it's a matter of time until the updates are coming to the west.

On a SRO side note, turning off the shadows made the game smooth as a river.

Everytime I play sro, my shadows are always set to circular. Anything above usually causes a great drop in FPS on any PC. That's what you get for bad optimization I guess

Game is 12yrs old and computers still cant handle sro shadows ;D
After 5yrs a rly want to try out sro again. Getting a bit nostalgia but meh, feeling that those pservers are not worth it. It still seems after years 99% of them are 2-month-money-grab servers.

maybe i am too old for it now.

Yeah the shadows are insane lmao, idk how could they fk it so hard.. There are many other things like that, fortresses etc.. Could have optimized stuff better, but well 12 years (if its a correct data) is 12 years :"D

I just have some questions about SRO because I am new to it.
1. Is there a leaked source code out there?
2. What is the average amount of players on private SRO servers?
3. Which programming languages are useful when working on SRO?

Thanks in advance
