Hello, guys!
I have few questions for you.
I know this is semi related to SRO, but here's the perfect place to ask you.
So I just graduated college and got my first low-budget gaming laptop from my first wage.
Specs :
GPU: nVidia 920M, 2GB
CPU: i5
RAM: 4GB
So I can play Blade & Soul on maximum settings except shadows with 60FPS smoothly, it stutters in some areas and a certain blade master skill makes my FPS drop to 10.
I know, the game looks awesome, the details, effects and shaders look amazing but we all have to agree that the game is poorly optimized.Probably because it's a 2009 game ?
Now, I play SMITE too. That 3D action MOBA game.
I run it on maximum settings, shadows turned on, 100-120 FPS all the time, 80-90 FPS when more than 5 people use their ultimate at the same time.It never crashed, the FPS never dropped and I'm amazed by its performance.
Now, here's the thing : Blade & Soul and SMITE are built within the SAME game engine which is, as we all know, Unreal Engine 3.
Here comes the SRO part. I downloaded a random populated SRO P-Server, I logged in, it was so fast that I couldn't even stare at the beautiful customized loading screens.
I tried to turn on the shadows and the game started to go crazy. The FPS dropped significantly and I wonder why.I mean: I can run new games at their maximum settings/performance and haven't had any problem.I know SRO runs in a different game engine, made by Joymax, but it's annoying to play with the shadows on.
I know it's not the best laptop, I'm going to upgrade it soon but I'm still confused about some things.
So, why the FPS is so different even though the games are built within the same game engine ?
Why does the SRO fps drop so hardly when the shadows are on considering I can run better and newer games at their maximum settings ?
Are only the games that are poorly designed/optimized or my laptop is not good enough for them ?
Thanks for reading and I'm yearning to check back for replies, I'd also appreciate if you reply and explain to me why is this happening. :)
