This alteration was made without GamersFirst’s knowledge or consultation, nor was it disclosed to anyone outside Dream Execution. On January 20th, 2012 we discovered this hidden update, and found that its implementation by Dream Execution was seriously flawed and, as a result, had compromised the email address and password of a large number of WarRock players. Due to GamersFirst security measures, we are confident that no financial information has been compromised, given the selective nature of the code flaw and the fact that it was housed within the actual WarRock game client, not on the GamersFirst servers.
As a result of the data compromise GamersFirst is reinstating possibly effected accounts banned in that January 12th timeframe, as the compromise is the likely cause of a number of false-positive detections for hacking.
As a precaution and to prevent unauthorized access, on January 20th, 2012 GamersFirst expired the entire War Rock community’s password in order to prompt the creation of a new password game-wide. Unless you have already done so, please visit gamersfirst.com and log in to the main site to update your password once you successfully log in by also verifying your original email address on the account.
It is highly recommended that you change your password at any other site where you use the same or a similar password. As always, please remember that GamersFirst will never ask you for personal or account information in an e-mail, and will always ask you to visit our site by typing in our gamersfirst.com URL in a browser.
Without admitting fault, Dream Execution recently removed the code that lead to the breach, and as such, GamersFirst has brought the game servers back up for play.
If your account was affected, we apologize for the inconvenience and downtime you have experienced.
Please bear with us, as we are drafting up a compensation plan for those accounts affected, and it will be announced shortly.
Thank you,
-The War Rock Team
EDIT: Our compensation package for those affected includes the following:
For all affected accounts that were F2P before the January 12th ban - you will receive 15 days of Silver premium.
For any affected account that is/was premium on January 12th and afterwards, you will receive the same above 15 days of premium (Silver if you were Silver, Gold if you were Gold), plus an additional 15 days of premium of same type.
ALL affected accounts receive an additional 250,000 dinars.
As an added bonus, a universal promo code for a weapon(s) for 15 days will be given out during this weekend as well, in appreciation for all those impacted who bore the brunt of this problem, however ALL troopers will be able to use this gun.
