Final Fantasy XI (Online) Private Server files

12/20/2010 19:59 xxfrozen#466
Just read through the whole thread from page. I'm been messing around with wow private servers for a while now and I played ffxi back during the NA release to the end of toa > took a break until wotg content was released then played again, thinking i would finally leave and go to xiv (which turned out imo to be a big failure) I'm currently enrolled into C++ classes this semester and hopefully will be able to contribute.

I thought project XI had been dead without an anticipated revival, glad I stumbled upon this thread and hpe to help in any way I can soon.

No, this project definitely isn't dead. I'm trying to have some revisions uploaded into the repository before the new year. I'll have to look through lionhart's changes and make sure I'm not interfering.

I see a lot of questions about new/expansion items and DATs ... it's probably time I considered writing some tools to build your database from the DATs you have on your machine -- rather than providing a database that might have items you don't have DATs for (or you can't get the items you do have DATs for because they aren't listed in your database). This isn't really hard, just distracting from the actual project - but becomes necessary because we eventually need to dump out the entire string table anyways. Wouldn't have to rely on POLutils anymore, since the source code for that isn't available.

That's what really makes this project so difficult. Everyone sort of working on their own, compiling the information is hard.
Speaking of which, I know there was a fix in between 6.4 and 6.5 to correct MNKs 2-hand attack and dual wielding, but the CChar.cpp that Kyousousha and I worked on is the only one i've seen that takes into account that you should still get the double punch even if you don't have a H2H weapon equipped. not that many MNKs out there go without weapons, but still. :)

Hello! I need some help, Everytime i try to get into the game, I get the black downloading screen, the after 30-60 seconds it kicks me out with a FFXI-3001 error message. The only thing that i can see that isn't right with my files is a little (!) next to a .lua settings file.

Thanks in advance.:)

EDIT: Found the problem, I just needed to import the db.sql from NeverwinterXI to my pxidb in SQLyog

Not sure if you've seen this before or not lionhart3001, but this is Kegsay's research for SMN avatars and calculating base damage etc., and it may help as you get this working better:

It will be about 4 MB (since the data transfer is compressed).

To compile this version, you can either follow the "Compile Guide" (in the doc directory) or:

1. Open the '.sln' file.
2. From the 'Build' menu, select 'Batch Build'
3. Click "Select All"
4. If you have built the project before, click "Rebuild" - otherwise, click "Build"

Your built .exe will be in the "Release" or "Debug" directory.
I tryed doing a checkout

problems with it is the hp dont show properly - always on 0, if you leave avatar/dragon attack a mob, the mob wont hit back.. i dunno why, still have fun with it...

The SVN is working as I just used it to make sure. The link provided has a few spaces in there that you need to remove in order to connect properly.

Edit: For those having a black screen upon loading up the game. Everything is there. Just for whatever reason the graphics are not initializing properly upon first load. Just hit - then Right Arrow Key - Log out and then Log your character back in. Everything should load up after.

Oh! And hello!
It took me a good week of reading, learning and shadowing forums across the global net before getting the server up and running. It doesn't take that long once you have all the files/info down. :) Now if I can work up a linux build.

Note: Very very interested in this project as this was my first MMO and still holds a huge place in my heart. I'm currently looking through all the servers/versions/source for the best/most stable/complete release of the server & source.

I'm a bit of a Visual Basic 2010 junkie and love to learn new things. Looking at the code I get that old 'I've seen this before' feeling that is encouraging. A lot of testing and tweaking to do before I settle into a source though. :) Lot of good information in this topic & forum. Hopefully we can start making more progress.

Well.. You got me there.. I just did it again using <https://ugpxi.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/ugpxi/server/trunk> and it downloaded w/o a flaw. If you copy it then remove the < and > brackets.

here you go people! working summoner build!

all pets can be summoned (including wyvern)
bloodpack abilities work... we just need someone to make lua's for them
package contains the src files and the working exe.

theres a massive script foler in there which you will need...use that script folder instead of your exsisting one.

ive tested it for ages using 2 players in a party using summons with no crashes so hopefully... its all good.

enjoy!

thanks Kyousousha for your assistance along the way

***update sorry if you already downloaded before seeing this message please download again, the pet killing a mob will give the player exp and drops. and the pet will despawn if you zone sorry something i forgot to do!

****************
another update...... after playing about about i noticed the pet would despawn everytime it killed a mob.... this has been fixed and you'll need to download this package yet again if your experiencing the same problem... sorry people!

Hello Lionhart

I have couple questions for you still. maybe you didnt see my preview post directed at you. asking you if you have a special comment on the code to identify your changes or a tracking document of them.

im very interested in you job and like to learn from it.

i have another question now.

why the previews download size was 44+ MB and the new one is 33+ MB size.
do you code in diferent builds ? or seperate folders ?

sorry i did see but didnt have time to post.

i dont keep any tracking...i just get stuck in.. its mostly just trial and error, the previous file i uploaded had problems... visual studio wanted MY pc enviroment when a friend tried using it, so i stripped out all the crap and packaged it together, all you need to do it create new c++ project from exsisting files. its 0.6.5
