Why? cuz now ppl are AFK 24/7 and botting all the time so there isnt really what to do in sro just bot all the time = be pro after week :(
I miss to the old times...
I'd agree here. In my opinion bots in general are responsible that Silkroad is dying. Whenever a new server opens it gates players will just start to bot, try to get maximum level asap and farm their equipment/alchemy stuff and such things. When this "task" is done there will come up some pvp, jobbing and other stuff which the server is offering. After a while they'll get bored because there is nothing to do.

I guess that's the main problem. Silkroad is a mmorpg with no real end game content, because it's a damn mmorpg where everything is supposed to take great amounts of your time. Using a bot will save you time and it's much more comfortable for sure, but that's also what makes it boring, since it's kinda cheating. If you grind by hand you'll level up slower and the maximum cap will be hit far later by players in comparison to a server where everyone uses a bot. If you're bored by grinding you'll go for a trade, do some pvp, start a guild war or something else, but if you use a bot you wouldn't give a fucking thought about such things before you didn't hit maximum level.

Silkroad doesn't offer end game content and you can't modify it enough to appear as a new game, since there is no possiblity to start something from scratch like other ppl here already said. The way is the goal in Silkroad.

Every guy is opening a server which was opened again before him,was unique if there was no mobs in the whole server map, just quests which gonna teleport you somewhere to kill a unique to have a fight against other peoples than when u complete the quest you will level up more and face the peoples with same level like you.
Do craft system for the whole items possible from the game again not dropable from mobs, the only thing you can do to be a non-bot server is the quests which are not about killing mobs and collect quest items is about having fun vs other guys, even if there is a quest for killing a unique instant teleport out from that room after u kill it.
Example Room 1 got tg,u need to kill it to advance to room 2 and so on,but but the quests main target is about not doing it solo and about do it with more guys. There can be 2 teams like ctf but the main is a killing a unique for a quest and there will be a nice pvp near unique for it :P There can be many ideas but the owners fault is that they dont listen to people most of them like 93% the rest of 7% is like royalblade which opens a server and dying after some time even if they got unique features, they are active and than bam after some time server is dying becouse no activity of gm.s and no updates which need to be done. Like a server to works u need a 24/7 live support and some dev.s which needs to be ready for anything ..

This Game simply fails because there is no "Vertical/Horizontal" Progression.

In these Days, MMORPG's have atleast a "Vertical Progression" which means :

You Level Up
You learn Skills/Abilities
You follow the Story, you unlock Features/Dungeons with this
You run Dungeons / Level Up by that / Gear up by that
You face Bosses / You Gear Up / You Level Up by that

What happens when you reached the Max Level? These Games make it that way :

Tons of Sets you can get with another Currency, be it running a Dungeon rewarding you 40-50 Tomes and when you have 200 of these, you're able to buy a Weapon / Gear Piece or Accessory Piece.

What happens after that?

Let's say you got capped, you have an ItemLevel of 80 (You're Lv.40 as example and your Items qouta is Lv.80) so you run Dungeons, get iLvl. 90 Weapon/Gear/Accessories and then you procceed in the Story or kill some Hardcore Boss which even Drops better Stuff.

If you keep this and add the entire things in a Rotation, you succeed, there is too much things to do so it'll take Months if not longer just to get the best Set.

In that time, there'll be next Updates with better Items and Dungeons/Bosses whatever the heck it is.

Silkroad does not have this and fails, there is a "You got everything, STOP NOW" Blockade.

To keep the Player, you'll simply have to Update this Game which is impossible, everyone is not going to waste their Time just to work so hard for every Patch.

It is the players problem.

An example: januera, they kept updating it every week, sometimes they update it everyday to add new contents/fix bugs, the players kept crying "GMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM SERVARLAR RASTERT GMMMMMMMMM FUCK IM LEAWE (seen this by my eyes and he really left)" , then they kept saying "GMs no giwe a flying fuck about the server no ewents no shit bb serwer" and when a gm started making daily events for some damn precious rewards they said: "GM IS DESTROY SERWELAR BB SERWERLAR" and when they stopped updating it daily so players wont get harassed by those sudden daily restarts the players kept saying "gm doesn't care about the server anymore as he was doing before, bb server", and the remaining players keeps saying the server is dead in global chatting, the server is boring although they does nothing to entertain themselves such as jobbing, hunting uniques, creating unique parties, etc. Its obviously the players problem, but yea I can say that its the owners problems sometimes.

and yea, as stated in the replies above, bots are one of the reasons that kills pservers nowadays.
But imagine a server without bots or with paid bots like iSRO, it will be boring as fuck and no one will ever think in joining it.

Another thing to prove that its the players problem: They join a server, this server miserably fails due to features lack, not attractive jobbing, and many things else, then the server owner advertises that he will open "server name 2" soon, and they are like : " HELL YEA FINALLY ANOTHER SERVER THAT WORTH A TRY", they overrate it and they join it, and the same happens all the time. Server 2 fails, start another one with another name, the other one fails, start another one with the same name but just add "two" and the same keeps happening. Some players complains of joining non-protected servers and donating, and when the server closes due to an attack, they cry as always, nothing new, nothing special, nothing unusual.

I have went through all the comments and well let me just explain everything from my point of view.

Let's start with owners and players. Some of the owners are douchebags, that is one thing for sure. However, that does NOT make the players such saints either as you people keep saying stuff like server should be updated constantly and caps should be raised and more gears should be added. That is not the case in SRO community, you do one update that players don't like, a lot are going to leave. You add new gears, players who claim the server is boring give you shit about how they worked their asses off for end-gear and then a new server opens and they all go to it.

Now one of you said that silkroad itself does not have potential but that is not true. It does have a lot of resources such as powerful monsters which nobody uses in a good way, a lot of good looking useless maps which can be used to make almost anything you want but the problem is as Exo mentioned, it is not very rewarding at the end.

In my opinion, a long-term server is a server that has scheduled events, wars, offers and activities (not going into details with that one) which end-gears look very possible to earn in it but in fact it isn't. To make it more simple, let's assume the end-gear is Egy-B. You make it look easy to earn and fun to try earning but then in like 6 months period, 5 to 10 players end up actually getting it. In addition to that, a stage while earning the end-gear should rely on sort of competition involving all the players to make it as rare as it actually should be.

For me the solution is Bring SRO on MOBILE Phones like Dungeon Hunter V on Windows phone for example :D

Yes, thats normal sure players complain if the server restarts everyday...
ever heard of a weekly server inspection

you say to the players "so guys, every week on monday the server went down from 8:00 AM - 12:00 AM"

and thats it... players wont complain about that

But, sometimes there are urgent cases that requires the server to be restarted immediately to fix a bug. If your server had a bug and it required a restart and you were on wednesday for example, would you restart it or wait till monday? You probably got my POV now.
