but it's no biggie, a heal bot would work perfectly i believe, especially if you can have the VM cursor independant of the host's

Before trying VMware, i have tried virtualbox too :
* no problem with networking even with FW
* no D3D support => use of wineD3D
* could not get it to work
Yes thats where I run into the problems with the video not rendering.. even though I check the VMWare OS's dxdiag settings it shows as acceleration enabled after editing the config file but still video will not render in game, just black screen.

If you just have artifacts to contend with then consider yourself lucky lol

Do the dxdiag test run fine for both DirectDraw and D3D ?
If yes then it *should* work ...
Did you try the latest Dx update (march) ?
I'm using WMware version 6.5.2 b156735

I allocated 768MB RAM out of my 2GB and 128MB video RAM (svga.vramSize)
CPU : Intel dual E2140 1.60GHZ
NVIDIA 9600GT (and an onboard 82945G)
I don't know what else could be resonsible of the error ..

Hmm I will try it again with that directx version when I have some free time. Also I'm using an ATI HD4580X2 vid card... I'm hoping its not just an issue with ATI vid cards.

and your vmware isnt crashing when u start rappelz on the Host?
At my pc it always crashes with the error "vmx not working anymore" or just closes as soon as i start rappelz on the host.
Im running vista ultimate 64 bit on host and xp pro 32 on VM.

I find this is my issue too, same details, Vista x64 Ultimate as host, XP pro x86 as VM OS.

As soon as I start the host rappelz the VMware OS shuts down and cannot be restarted.

That is hard to say.. it really depends on your Internet connection speed and the amount of traffic on the site that you are trying to download from. You can try running a speed test to make sure the problem isn't coming from your connection. From there, if all good, you might want to look into other places to download it as I am sure there are plenty.

Again, depends on your Internet connection. Most people in North America don't even have 10MB they are mostly using 3-5MB service.

So I have tried the VMWare Workstaion and it works.
I can also say that is ins't woring with the VWWare Player.

But I am not so happy with it right now.
The speed of the game is unplayabe and I have a high chance that it crashs.

So it is good enough to buff somebody or to transfer some items to a 2. account.
But sadly not more.

I am going to host a .torrent file of a RAR'ed, clean (no unrelated files), super fast version of XP with a working Rappelz on minimum requirements. This should resolve everyone's issues ^^. I will edit my post to provide a link to the thread.
