I was wondering if anyone had their own server up and ready to play, from my view it looks like the server set up process takes quite a while. and i've been looking around to just play FFXI

I am also wondering if there is any activity going on. Don't have alot of time but in the near future I will and I can work on getting other elements of the game working/updated. If anyone has a server that they are working on or wants to work on I'll be happy to participate if not ill goof off on my own and get bored and just pass along anything ive done.

I own a copy of Final Fantasy XI (and its various addons) and am paying full subscription fees to play the game, however I would like to try some experiments with various things that I can't achieve in game at the moment so thought a private server with no other players would be an ideal testing ground. I'm also interested in the back end of MMORPG's so this is a sort of research thing for my long term endeavours, too. As such, it would really be great if this works on my machine.

However, I only have Windows XP and, while the official game works fine, the "Final Fantasy XI: Project XI v0.6.2 + Meteor XI v0.6.1 Setup Instructions" document in the "Everything you need FFPXI" files presented in this thread specifically says this software is for the "Vista Platform". Does anyone know if it works on XP? As I'm very new to all this stuff, I tend to assume that I've messed something up if anything goes wrong so I'd really like to avoid the self flagellating ahead of time if there's going to be any incompatibility issues.

Also, I was wondering if it was possible to maintain the working, legal version of the game in addition to the private server.

I saw this being in development back when I played ffxi, then of course I got sick of a lot of crap on the server etc. So I thought about toying with it like 2008, lol I go back to check and BLAM its shutdown. So here I am with fragments of a hope that a pserver could get going. I played just about every type of pserver, and dam are they fun. One of the gayest things about ffxi for the longest time was the speed of lvling. Which was gimped if the server was over populated, and you had to pay to leave the fuckin server. But anyways...

I'm no programmer by any means, but I got Mysql working and SQLyog. I was able to uploaded the pxidb.sqf, but i can't seem to load into ff. I'm basically stuck on the final part of it all, rofl. Pisses me off too, i was so close... I'm basically at the part where you have to run pserver 6.2 or whatever, and meteor. Pserver just flashes on my screen, and meteor says can't connect to server. I've set it all up like the faq says "ip 127.0.0.1" root, my pass, and modified the host in windows. So any help would be appreciated.

So my programmer friend came over, and dam did he fix my shit up lol. The only thing I still can't get working is fuckin pol. PXI works fine, but it doesn't seem to launch into ffxi instantly. Basically we noticed from all the youtube vids, that mine goes all green but it doesn't start recieving packets. Obviously meteor is for when your at the terms and conditions, so i'm not really sure how this bypasses pol. Also i've heard that you need a trial version to get this working, but does that mean when it expires you can't log on anymore? The last possible thing i noticed is i can't get ffxi calculator window mode to stay, and i'm not sure what ini file i'm supposed to get it to save to. I tried the one that PXI uses, but it doesn't seem to save the settings, or change shit. Any help would be nice.

so my Server is running and POL is full updated... but meteor doesnt recieve packets! And doesnt bypass POl. In the Setup Instructions we need :
* (File Update) file.zip
* (Final Fantasy Update) Final Fantasy XI Update.zip
* (Resource Hacker) ResHack.zip

but its not in the "Everything you need FFPXI" file...

what now`?

now I know the problem.. We need a actualy updated version of ffxi but we cant update it with the POL...

can anyone please upload his ff11 folder?

I'm working on getting an updated version of FFXI for all of us. Downloading it right now actually.

Working on getting a public private server for all of those who are interested.

Also, working on a tutorial / read me type thing for those who are interested in making their own server or joining someone elses.

And, the reason MXI doesn't receive packets is because the version isn't updated. But, working on that :)

Oh! couple more things, if anyone needs to actually download the game who is returning, I gotcha covered on that too. Just PM and I'll send you links. Working on getting it all organized :)

The PXI IRC is down.

Even with an updated FFXI, MXI doesn't load up correctly.
Any ideas?

MXI 7.1 will only get my to the character creation. After that, I am unable to continue. Upon trying to get into the actual game. Not working. Getting an error.
