All I CAN say, I guess is that we like our work to be respected. I personally prefer to be the only one allowed to distribute my own work, so that I know who has it and can keep track of where it's spreading and how.

Did you ever think of.. you know.. asking the people if you can re-release their work? I would have said sure, personally.

It should be protected because it is his work, not yours. There are laws against exploitation of the intellectual prop of another, I think. If he didn't publicly release it and give you permission to post it elsewhere, then you're in the wrong.
