actually, DOTA has got a LOT of popularity over LoL because one thing: it's on Steam

the mere fact Steam and Valve give you for free makes DOTA2 one of the most downloaded free games to date(even paring with TF2)


Also, DOTA2 competition prizes are insane

the reason of the removal was more due to copyright

Skeleton King was changed due to DOTA, being based on WarCraft, has stuff from Blizzard and the Skeleton King is a recurring boss on the Diablo games, they changed it to the Wraith King

You said it yourself, they changed the hero's name and model not the hero itself, they haven't removed any hero in the transition from DotA to Dota 2, they just change its name to avoid any copyright issue.

yeah they never removed any champions, just changed names or basically didn't add them yet. Honestly i miss the funny things they had in dota 1 though, like when you buy boots of agility , it would say "my spidey senses are tingling" you know, or like when you get axe sometimes it would say Mogul Khant Touch Dis :P

(PS: like the renamed heroes: wind runner to wind ranger)

I used to play in the past, but not much anymore, haven't got the necessary time, but if we can get 5 people I'm up for it.
