Hello , I need a little help if someone can figure what the answer , so here we go :
I trying to use sql_connect from my website which is on different host from my gameserver host (2 hosts in other words) , so there must be some adds that I need to add to connect to the database from one host to another one , I will give u the code I got and if you know what I need to add and you can tell me I will appriciate it :)

here's the code :

$acc_database_user = "sql account";
$acc_database_pass = sql password";
$auth_name = "Telecaster"; // db name

I opened port 1433 , I enabled TCP/IP , the 1433 is the default port.

another thing if someone can PM me how to make master password too, I have searched but found nothing.

EDIT : Just thougth now that if the website and the gameserver is on different hosts , how the guild icons supposed to get uploaded to the website

I need some help setting a master password, that is connected to the Database, player password etc. For security, can anyone explain how to set this password?

connection for the database like the password for "sa" or another login you may have created is DES encrypted with the DES encrypter that Pyrok made a long time ago and ships with most repacks.

"sa" password is entered into the database for login in plain text also in some ODBC connections, and GM tools.

It is entered into the server .opt files in DES encryption.

User passwords like for account generation in the auth database and used to log into the game are MD5 with the MD5 key listed in your authserver.opt. You can use any web MD5 generator for this.

The format would be keypassword then hash it, for example if the player wants their password to be playerpassword and the MD5 key is 2011 then enter 2011playerpassword into the web generator and hash it.

The password is entered into the auth.dbo.accounts table in the password column in MD5 encrypted format.

When they log in to the game they enter the plain text.

The best way to do player accounts though is with an account generator or registration script rather than manually.

Actually, you can't. But there's a workaround made by Strange2010 that uses the 8.1 client and server with some modifications.

ok well im doing it anyways lol and when i go to backup databases for the telecaster it says it failed with the error of....

Restore of the database 'Telecaster' failed. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Managment.RelationalEngineTas ks)

and in Additional Info is says...

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use.
(Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoExtended)

i dont get how it could be in use because everything is closed that i think would be linked to the database

Yes, as it will need to add some things to Telecaster you'll need to recreate it, losing data, but problably the backup can restore it :)

About the error, try:
When at the restore window, click in Options menu and check "Close existing connections to destination database". I don't know the details, but sometimes I have this problem too.

Or right click the database and select "take offline" then perform the backup.

You will not be able to use the backup however as you will need to use the telecaster provided with the repack.

You can use the backup if you want to create SQL scripts to transfer all of your existing character data.
