hey guys i think its really cool you picked this project back up. I wish i could help. i would love to help get this server running to its full potential. I'm on it now and i just wish there were people on when i am =P. Its definetly the dlx server cause of the message of the day. Anyone play on it anymore? I'm trying to get a few of my buddies playin again. Are you guys still working on it? Just a few questions. Btw thanks again

wow. Umm.. All the download links are in the FIRST post of this thread. There are also a lot of tutorials out there on how to setup a private server. There I go again thinking people would do a little searching. Not rocket science here.

Download the server files.
Extract the files to a directory.
Extract the patch file into same directory
import the /misc/pxidb.sql into your mysql database
edit the pxi.ini in the server directory
- change the username
- change the pass

make sure you install visual c 2008 & visual c 2010 redistributables :rtfm:

run the dlx-pxi-6.5.exe file. server should start.
If not then post what you did, exactly and what the outcome was.

We discontinued working on this server a while ago. We are helping build a new one using a new source (not pxi) called Dark Star. You can find the forums for it here. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

The server you were on was simply someone else running one of our last compiled releases. It's decent with a bunch of bug fixes and updates and added features. Nice to see that little message I left in the server did some good at least.

There is no further potential for the pxi server. Or the dlx-pxi updated server. If people want to continue working on the pxi server then the svn is available on the first page. Old, outdated but it is what we started with. I would actually suggest that people go back to 6.4 and start from there. It may be a tad less tampered with.

meanwhile check out the dark star forums. plenty of info there.

mysql, is a proven straight out of the install working program. This is one of the very few database programs that does shit right. :) IMO

not hard to import a database.. though sounds like you never worked with mysql so you may benefit from :rtfm:

You said you tried over and over, but you never said what you tried so we have no basis to go by.

mysql -p -h test pxibd < pxidb.sql

and nothing

i havent used mysql alot but i have read the manual lol
iam used to getting server with the .my.cnf file made and the run mysql thing to click, ect, so i guess i'm new to this way.
but on a brighter side I can script in .Lua and many others, so once I can get it up I can fix alot fo things that need work and such.

just need a good push

the command is mysql -u (username) -p pxidb < pxidb.sql

though that will only work if you are either:
1: in the mysql 5.5/bin directory or
2: you setup a global command option in the setup

Your best bet is to go get navicat, even just the demo. Install it, set up the username pass for your mysql database, create the database pxidb then right click it and import the pxidb.sql database.. then make the pxiah_1 database and import pxiah_1.sql to it. done.

Hello!

First of all Good job on making this! also nice thinking about the wotg + restriction!

Been looking awhile toggether with some old FFXI friends for a free server.
Just the thing is i dont understand the process what to need be done to be able to play.
Just a suggestion a Youtube instruction video!

Thanks,

Though we didn't make everything. Just did a bunch of fixes and updates. The original pxi team paved the way. If you and your friends are just looking to play it may be easier to use an already running ffxi server. There should be a couple floating around in the forums.

Otherwise, All the server files and notes are in the OP, the basic directions are one page back in post #333. I never bothered to write a full out tutorial.

Need some advice, I have been currently using SpiraXI i downloaded from another forum and it works fine but the mog houses are glitched and mobs dont move etc.

So i decided to upgrade to DLX-PXI-6.5d, i also grabbed the ver. 1 patch. I did what you said transfering the script files and everything over my old stuff. But now when i play i cant do any @ commands, example @skill will cause it to crash...

Everything else is fine mobs move, mog houses work, but if i even attempt to @ something i crash. I updated mainly for mob movement and the @unlockjob command.

Did i miss something or am i just unlucky? I tried downloading other mXI but no luck idk... Do i need a different server that is configured for DLX like another MySQL.bat?

Any information would be appreciated thanks. BTW awesome servers really fun stuff.

You will need to download the MySql server from their website, create a new database pxidb and import the pxidb.sql file located in the /misc folder. Also have to follow the patch notes to create a new column in the gmcmd table.

The reason that the @ commands crash is because DLX uses a gmcmd security table. It disables all the GM commands for every character by default. This was done so that server admins can control who has what commands on their server. Since you didn't import the new database you are missing that table which = crash.

Sorry im still learning the whole Sql thing, I did not add the patch because i did not understand where to put it in the pxidb.sql... Also do you need a specific program to add stuff to the pxidb.sql or can you just use notepad?

Obviously i cant just copy and paste this into notepad or can I and if so does it matter where it goes? ALTER TABLE gmcmd ADD COLUMN gmzone int(1) NOT NULL DEFAULT 0;

When you say create a new column im thinking there is more to it than just notepad?

Real noobish post im learning though lol
