If someone wants to protect PC from viruses, he/she/it uses an antivirus. It's pretty much in the name.

Even if XP is out since 2003 and alot of issues have been fixed using Windows Updates, XP isn't more safety without a good Firewall/Antivir as Windows 7 is.
Also atleast 70% of all XP Users never done any updates exept for Service Pack 2/3.

The Difference between Windows 7 and Windows Vista is also it's newer NT Kernel, it's better backward compatiblity for programs and games.
In my opinion the UAC itself got nothing to do with security, since there are several ways to bypass it..

and yeah The AV's are essential but the system have to resist any changes that might hurt your pc! did you ever use a MAC?!!! you will see the deference!
i actually hate Apple products but the Leopard is incredible! it's so stable and you will feel that you are totally secured!

I didn't try MAC, probably cuz I hate apple :D
But win7 isn't a miracle, simple that it's more user friendly than xp(atleast for me). Also most of the programs these days are now made compatible for windows 7.

do you remember when Windows Xp recently came out?? the win 9x user was complaining of the lack of compatibility with alot of old programs.... lol its the same man we must to let them sum time to stabilize the operative system ... even though sro its getting old and a "private server" will not stay updated for futures OS
