Virus:Win32/Sality.AT
Virus:Win32/Sality.AT is a severe, parasitic file-infecting virus. It embeds malicious code into executable files (.exe and .scr), disables security software, blocks Windows utilities, and turns your machine into part of a botnet.Because of how deeply it burrows into system files, removal often requires an offline or specialized scanner.Symptoms & BehaviorFile Infection: It injects code into all running processes and modifies .exe and .dll files on local, remote, and removable (USB) drives.Disables Protections: It actively terminates antivirus software and prevents key Windows utilities (like Task Manager or Registry Editor) from running.Malware Downloading: It communicates with remote servers to download additional malware.Immediate Action PlanIf your antivirus has flagged this threat, take these steps immediately to secure your system and data:Disconnect from the Internet: Unplug your Ethernet cable or disable Wi-Fi to stop the virus from communicating with its command-and-control servers or downloading more malware.Do Not Run Executables: Avoid opening .exe files, as this will trigger the virus to spread further and infect other untouched programs on your PC.Run an Offline Scan: Since Sality disables security tools while Windows is running, you should use a bootable antivirus rescue disk (e.g., Microsoft Defender Offline or Kaspersky Rescue Disk) to clean the system outside of the infected OS.Change Your Passwords: Because Sality allows remote attackers to control your machine, you must assume your passwords were stolen. Change all critical passwords (especially for banking, email, and social media) only after the virus has been fully removed and you are connected via a clean network.Format USB Drives: Sality spreads heavily via removable drives. Back up your absolutely necessary, non-executable personal files (like photos or documents) and format any USB drives used on the infected computer.
I’ve decided to release the full server files and client for a 15-Class Dekaron server!
