Noble... Dude, hes totally right. Your, wrong, end this. Simple. A database can be dynamically updated, with the use of PHP and SQL queries. A .pak file cannot. It is a READ-ONLY file with the sole intention to load itself into the games memory.
You're misinterpreting the phrasing going on here. True, a database is a collection of files, but when referring to P-Server Hosting, the database is what is driving the game, constantly being queried by the dekaronserver.exe to keep the game running smoothly. When you level up for instance, you get 5 stat points here is the order in which it happens:
1. You get enough XP for your next level
2. The server recognizes this, compares your XP to the Req. in the DATABASE
3. If the statement comes back as XPyouHAVE > XPforNextLevel; you level up
Those 3 steps are in the DATABASE, all your stats, money, items, XP, etc, etc etc. are all stored and can be updated DYNAMICALLY by the server. Your .pak file cannot, ergo; its not a database. Its a meager collection of files.
You can continue this flame war with me over PM, but you are wrong so just deal with it. A database is server-sided, a .pak file is client sided. Its not dynamic, so your argument that it IS a database is completely obsolete. Sorry.
