If its a fun project you want to play with then, design and create to your hearts content.

If its for enhanced game play so you can set up a server, i wouldn't bother. I'd be more then happy to play SRO in shit low quality graphics because of better performance and i don't like the bloom effects, it hurts my hair.

its just that the graphics optimization for sro so crap that when you make everything high, it just fps lags and starts taking up too much ram eventually crashing it, it even crashes on my alienware lol

Yea, same thing happened to me.

If you want something productive to do... recreate the silkroad vsro client using unreal engine or cry engine 3.... thats what i want to do :P

i think it would be a cool idea to change the way silkroad looks, Is there anyway to secure your media pk2 so it cant be used by other servers?

Yes its still alive my good sir. Ignore my signature link thread. Its pretty outdate , by a lot. I will probably soon update it or create new thread. Much more has happened , and much more ive learned. Its not a project to earn money or get famous. Just my hobby when im bored to create what i can. So i just try to re-create silkroad in my own vision. :)

I successfuly changed the SRO Sky by replacing the Skybox Files, though Aion Skybox Textures won't work at all, you can see them Ingame but it'll look like ... ya -_-
(Guess it was inside the Media.PK2 or Map.PK2).

However, once the DDS. File exceeds 1024x1024 resolution, SRO will simply crash, also the Skybox is splitted in 16 or 24 tiles.
(If you have an Image with a simply "A" Letter, the "A" Letter will show up in 16-24 tiles or let's call it "Zones".

Basically I give you an example.

This will loop in the Zones, basically if you draw a simply cloud in paint in the middle of the Picture. The Skybox has 16-24 small painted clouds and they will loop correctly.

(You can even modify the entire Karakoram Zone, though... it's a pain in the ass because there are thirty DDS. Files for the Textures and you have to replace every File in that Folder called "Water")
(The same also goes with the moon, the moon has thirty Textures as well... already tried to replace the default moon with the Moon of Majoras Mask)

The strange thing is, SRO doesn't have any Texture loading Issues, already loaded Hi-Res DDS Files up to 50 MB (Just a single Texture ...) and it didn't crashed so... it should be possible to upscale the entire Textures from the SRO World.

Excellent work, however I dont believe cryengine will support the 3rd person click-to-move style of gameplay...

I tried to create a 3rd person character in cryengine 3.5.x not long ago... but it didnt really work out. I managed to make a 3rd person over the should type system... but it was still a mouse look shooter system... couldnt seperate the camera.

I know it can be done with unity 4. and I think you can do it with unreal engine 4 as well, but idk about cryengine.
