well then its time for you ppl to dupe like crazy and sell in iresistable prices +9 50 mil :P
09/19/2009 00:15 6Drako9#17
yea what would happen if you sold.. can they still tack who duped the item?

im asking of curiosity lol I have never duped and don't really know how
09/19/2009 00:32 ~Kakkarot~#18
well from what im seing in the explanation upthere i say no, they cant trace the guy who duped the item, only duped item itself since it will be the only thing that has a twin brother lol

but my question is why wasnt there a "job" in SQL like anti GM hack, so it would check and delete every item that uses the same serial twice

Actually... they can see on which char the item was duped. As p-servers use mssql2000, but from the pic, I see acclaim uses mssql2008, and the 2008 version has a function to log every add/change/everything in a database, if only you enable 1 checkbox.
Ofc, that DB would be huge, 10TB+ , but if you scan that... You can see exactly who duped, and when, and who was he duping with, who he sold the item for, everything. *sigh*

oh so you mean like...(well I don't know how to dupe so lets say its done by the trading/crashing method)
then they can see when the item was traded (aka changed character ID) and they could see that the other copy wasn't deleted after trading.

HOWEVER I can see how that amount of data would just grow really fast
like I would guess that the log would have...
1. TimeStamp
2. Collumn Entry
3. Previous value
4. new value

and then think... it records that for every traded/sold (maybe even fortified) item.

sounds waaaay too impractical and too much hard work just to find who to ban.
Which is going to be someone that can have a lvl 100 account in 2 weeks and be doing the same thing over again

People need to start duping argates XD the prices are just too funny

i realy realy wonder how will the game look on sep 24 when all duped stuff will be gone, man half of the game will walk around with no equipment xD

See, guys, the wipe will delete both the original, AND the copy of the item. So the best thing to do now is STOP duping, and sell all duped items / items you duped from (yes, your main armor, weapons... *sigh* You can sell it for 1 mil, or you can see the wipe delete it for 0 dil. Your choice.

Anyone get anything removed? It doesn't look like it. I will wait to use shops untill I hear a few people got something removed. I was thinking I would loose at least 2 pieces cuz I bought a lot of gear over the Summer. Nothing yet. In fact, I am going to wait to even play seriously becasue one of my key pieces is waiting for the medials. I dont want to waste those if it will be gone next week.

Frustrated.
