I'm talking about key focus. There are many focuses a pserver owner can have and fun is usually the least stable among them.
Development resources, learning experience, community building, money.
All are rather popular and useful reasons for starting and continuing a private server project. "fun with friends" usually turns into the servers shutting down after a few weeks though.
Now - this is completely off topic and has zero bearing on the thread so lets stop this before fang has to delete all our posts.
All we're arguing is that fun should not be your only focus if you're trying to run an advertised public server. It can be fun but it's a relatively small percentage of the experience.
Ps: If they were being honest, yes. Any of the top servers has a large investment to get back and so business (if the server is to continue to exist) is by necessity moved up the list of priorities.
