If you need to use a text editing program for the files use notepad++

It will help preserve almost any formatting.

do u mean, if i only would like to thange the dds entry it would work with notpad++ and i do not must intall blender?

notepad++ supports editing binaries and leaves everything you didn't modify as is
But you can't change the size of the text in the nx3 file, if you just need to change the dds to a new one, rename the new one to have the same name size.
For example:
If you can't have a file with it's name size equal to the old one, you can't do raw editing.

No there is no tools to edit COB. But the used format is similar to nx3 (BTRFReader should be able to read COB but not write it)
