About the binaries; this is the thread where it all started: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
Several people found the files on their own but -Reflexis- re-uploaded it on an English file host and released it in a thread. The cause for the search were some Egyptians posting screenshots claiming they hacked TQ's servers. He then released the files and nobody knew how to set it up.
Judging from the thread I was the first one to manage to log in (lol), it also seems that I referenced the EO binaries to do it.
Afterwards a few people found out which English client version could be used to connect (507X), however, those versions were extremely buggy. (Entity spawn packet issues, names not appearing and stuff)
I think that after that a lot of research was done on instant messengers (I vaguely remember not posting new findings anymore) and 5065 was identified as the correct version. I'm not completely sure but I think it was done to prevent everyone from having a working server so only a select few had it completely working up till that point. Then someone went and released a proper guide with a proper client version and a custom account server (Chinese one was a trial version, 10 accounts only). The custom keygen was also pay2use but it got cracked by I think Tw3ak and Sparky. Then stuff snowballed and the binary server era started.
In the end, it took around 60 pages of discussion and a few days before it got widespread.
//edit Completely useless information about the past, Korvacs was once known as Korvics, at least on Qonquer forums.
