Silkroad on Frostbite 2 engine

Your idea is nice but like nezekan said it's not practical since it's a fps engine. Plus for an mmo you want as much people to play it which isn't possible with such kind of engine. Also you couldn't call it silkroad anymore. The server has to be heavily modified to sync all the exploding particles and other stuff going on.

Plus the game content is just too ugly. in silkroad it looks ok but if you use the textures and 3d models in a game engine like that it'll probably look awful.

EDIT: Unreal engine 4 ftw.

Fixed that for you. crysis/cryengine 1 was a resource hog, cryengine 2 improved a lot in that aspect, cryengine 3 runs better than cryengine 1 and 2 on my cheap-o graphics card. I was getting a steady 60-70 FPS on their cryengine 3 demo with a $99 graphics card. FB's 2 environment looks like garbage, which isn't suitable for a MMO in any regard.
However, FPS engines do not belong in MMOs.

Until we have something such as unlimited detail, our games will be limited by hardware and lazy devs who aren't willing to optimize.

But hey, the higher the requirements the less kids, right?

CryEngine was the best so far, the 2nd and the 3rd are more likely very average graphical engines.

If i had to choose between FB and CE i would pick FB. But none of them are suitable for a game like this.

Nah, then you'd be stuck with rich kids only, which are even worse ^^

However, cryengine is not really an fps engine, take a look at Aion. It's based on a modified version of CE 1 and it ran really well. You are right though, cryengine 3 is obviously the one that runs the best. Crysis ran on cryengine 2 btw, and it was not really performing well. But we can't really blame it figuring the graphics it delivered vs that time.

I'm still thinking joymax is going to take care of its graphics on its own. Otherwise it would already be in the media ^^

Seeing joymax create their own advanced graphics you say?seems legit :D
