Conquer PServer API (concept)

It's a great idea, but due to the lack of active and free programmers it won't work. I don't mind helping people, but as far as giving away anything extremely useful like this to the general community, no way (if it was open source); if you're charging, the general population won't be able to implement or make use of an API or the plugins, and the actual programmers would rather code it themselves to have more control over it (in my case, at least).

Sidenote - kind of related: I've thought about doing packet structures for every version and having a module to support them, but I dismissed the idea because I was (and still am) focused on 4267 development.

The problem being that at the end of the day you'll get a handful of people willing to contribute and then hundreds wanting to just download the finished product. Theres no reward at the end as those handful of developers can already do everything that the api will deliver so theres no real drive to complete it.

It takes time and understanding, it's something you have to enjoy doing or without proper incentive you'll lack motivation. I mean, the one person who I've seen over come this hurdle is Mr. Pop. Like, holy shit, that guy has worked his ass off.
thanks, I appreciate that you finally changed your thoughts about me ^_^!

Alot of people come to me, and say hey i want to learn c#, and i ask the same question, why?

they always reply, so i can build a conquer server. so i sit there and try to explain, coding isnt something u learn over night, you have to understand what your doing and how it works. that takes time and practise. try building something smaller like a simple notepad app, calculator app, word app, then progress to a simple chat app 1 step at a time. they agree.. so off they go.

2 days later they come back ok ive done that im ready for conquer. im like ?!?!?! seriously no way, you mean you have googled copied someone elses code, not understood it. and think you are ready.
alot of the time you cant seem to get into there head, learning to program following co protocols isnt the best way to learn programming your gonna pickup a bunch of bad habbits. ( i know personally)

the biggest problem is. people just dont want to learn, they want to jump straight into it.

sorry guys, concept is great, the support and stucture its going to need will require alot of work. especially with 1000000 people saying they want to learn with it. lol.

You already know that I considered you a good coder before I started learning programming. You and Steve were two of my big inspirations :P

You were a huge inspirational figure from about a week into when I was learning C#, Ultimation came a little later, but the work both of you two have done is huge motivation for me to keep learning C# and other languages.

Won't work just because of how this community works. Proof here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

I had a similar system designed in my proxy. Not a single person picked up on it even though it had the potential to be the most powerful proxy out at the time. The design is fantastic. I had always thought of doing it in a pserver, but had never acted on it because I knew few would ever even take interest in it let alone code something for it.
