well very simple answer even if you are 64bit system that stupid mbot need's the 32bit dll version so install C++ 2010 yes right but 32bit or 64 use the x86 which is for 32bit and

it works but then this appears : An unknown error occured while checking for a mBot update.

It worked for me to just copy and replace the DLL files from /system32 to /bot folder
