umm... first of all.. block port 3306 from outside connections and only open it up for the coders.. hacking mysql 4.0 isnt that hard.. if you have some knowledge of linux just use sqlninja and ull be inside the target in no time.. (if poor protected)

dont tell me you had remote desktop or some other remote admin tool running opened up for all ips?

block all ports except gameserverport and accountserverport inward
then open up just the ips for the admins for the remote service..
