believe me it's way harder than you think right now. I guess that most of the people who should be able to create some kind of emulator(including me) can't make something which can hold like 2000 players. or you have to buy a very good server.
joymax has a big team of developers which have a lot of experience about creating such kind of massive servers and here are only some hobby programmers well there are a few really good programmers but I assume they won't do it for nothing cause they can create one by themself.
cause why would someone who can create an emulator join your team. he could make one by himself and sell it:P so is there something special which you can offer to make it intresting for people to join instead of good will?:)

hmm well maybe u figured out that a lot of ppl tried to to do this b4 you...
lets get real... you won't achieve this unless you have some coding pros behind you and ppl like that are very unlikely to waste time on a game , at least one outdated as sro. unless your rich and buy a server that it is working its completely wasteful to start doing this from scratch. this is my opinion and i hope i'm wrong. good luck in your quest for knowledge ^^.

well,in my opinion everything is possible,but for an emulator,especially for silkroad you need a really good team,with a lots of experience / knowledge,at least 8-10 ppl or more,but I don't really think ppl would join you for nothing in exchange and also I think you're not really good @ programming,am I right?
so it won't be successful anyway.
I think currently the Xcoding team is the biggest & better one in the history of silkroad emulators,they might be successful,because they're making a really good progress with 5 or 6 developers.

but there are some things which could be a really big problem for their project which can make it into an complete failure cause they keep adding features while they say that their server is quite stable but a lot of people having problems with it and still some big problems with the data reading ect. If they don't fix those problems in the next few release they might lose a lot of people which are now supporting the project.

been on 1 or 2 pretty nice servers back when lyzerk were selling it (which were actually much better then the current released version Xsense has)

if normal ppl could make a private server by them selfs there would be hundreds of p servers or eservers its not that easy...u should think and research before u post a topic like this(no offense) peace

cause if you were able to create a server than there would be literally thousands and THOUSANDS of sro servers.
If you want a good nice and stable private server you need years of experiences in coding and networking and you also need a team of at least 8 0 10 people.
So that's why you get these answers:P
It's just extremly difficult cause you need to reverse the whole server side which is a lot.
and you might notice those few private servers which are out and thinking but how did those started. well the exact story is too long to tell right here but short version. someone stole/hacked or leaked those files from csro(If i'm correct) and with those files are these private servers hosted. so that's why they all look the same cause they can't expand them with new legends cause it's not available in their files.
all they can do are some little changes faking some new skills ect.
