JoyMax will stop developing Silkroad?

They never really had any creativity, or, as it's called nowadays, 'next-gen innovation' anyway. They nearly always released re-skinned avatars/mobs since 2009. Come to think about it, Joymax is probably one of the worst MMO developers I know. They never respond to customer services (and if they do, it's automated) and their GM's were lazy asses who showed up once in a blue moon, also with automated notices.
I'm a lurker! I just pop by every now and then to see if much has changed/developed.

I guess your right. Silkroad Online has a certain charm and no matter how many flaws the game has we all hold onto the good memories it gave us. It became stale for me soon as I started using a bot, but one of the great things around the game was the development. People just seem to restart on new servers over and over, but not much changes. Best thing I ever did was to time sink into games like Skyrim instead.

I couldn't really get into Skyrim, due to having to travel miles just to get to my next quest. I quit and deleted the game, and then, found out about Fast Travel, well shit.

I think the only reason I hang onto SRO longer than any other MMO is because I basically grew up with the game. Jamming 10p coins into the enter button, returning after lunch and I'm logged in.. Those sweet memories.

To be honest I can't remember myself too well everything that happened around that time. You be surprised that was over 5 years ago. The early eSRO project which started here was garbage, that was around 2008. That was a 'project' as I called it, which was attempting to fix the server files of the time or source out new ones. Throughout this time, I was just being the community/project manager if you were, I had little development knowledge. Windrius joined it and it started becoming more emulator orientated. It did not really get anywhere till 2009 when Npcdoom joined and we recoined what eSRO meant as "Emulator Silkroad". We then took on his emulator base. We dropped people that were not needed at this point. I just carried on my role, but got involved with packet analysis. I think it was around this time we had those german forums and John Dread was actually part of the project. You probably remember that point.

We developed from this point and posted occasional updates. We didn't release a beta till 2010 which was under the name Zelos Online. It was the most successful emulator server that was around for that time, I believe the last day it was online it had at least 100 people playing and no crashes. We had issues with one of the team members who was in charge of the hosting and just stopped the project, I think some of us were fed up of working on it for so long (issue was Npcdoom worked). Not many people will remember it now, but it was shunted a lot because it had a long development time and on the release of beta it did have some crash issues which were actually solved in a week.

That was my whole Silkroad experience really for 2-3 years and also the time before that when I played. I learnt a lot over this time. I was 16 then, I would do things a lot differently now and it would of achieved more. I do miss those times though, seems there are not so many old users around here any more. I would get involved in something now - but as I said seems the game/community is slowly dwindling.

yeah i remember, i miss that old bastard trolling windrius lol he was hilarious.. i remember the whole thing buddy, but its sad that it came to an end since imo our little group of people were whole lot more fun and interesting

Personally, I miss SoulSp34r. I grew up with his videos just as well as I did SRO. His tears don't fall music video will always have a place in my heart :o.

Since every server that comes up and promising a new "era" of silkroad have failed to keep their promise, there is nothing else to really do here and on silkroad. People should just let the game die and move on already. Sure everyone shares their childhood memories where spending hours on logging in and having fun and hoping for that time to come back again. Just be happy that you have these memories and move on to another game and create new memories that you will share the same feeling for as you do with silkroad.

I'm feeling ArchAge, but the fucking game blew up my Graphics card, need a new one now. (It wasn't AA that blew it up, it was a variety of gaming, it's just it happened to explode whilst I was playing it)
