kakashi knew of the dimension cuz his mangekyo (kamui) transform something to another dimension
as kakashi used kamui on his own kunai (which was thrown to tobi) hittet his mask ... tobi uses this "kamui" to transform some of his body in another dimension so the kunai and his mask was in the same dimension :p

i know that but what im trying too say is that ur logic is flawed when you say since Kakashi was never told about the ability of his eye the same logic should apply to him when it clearly doesnt
