Has everyone can see, we add a mini-map which was not that easy and you see your life at the top of the page.
Now we need to fixe : first lag, then connection issues.
So for that if anyone as an idea, you can post it on there because we tried to put the server on a VPS (Virtual Private Server) and it failed.

PS : We need some images, to avoid any problem with DarkOrbit if anyone can create some images, it will really help or you can send program to create good images for the game.

Your problem is the VPS; there is no way that a VPS will cope with server software which has to keep control of several hundred players no matter how efficient the coding may be. Typically, on a VPS you will only receive around 300-400MHz of CPU power, sometimes less, which is fine for a small website but nowhere near enough for a game server.

For a game server that has very little lag, you're going to either need to rent a full server (not a VPS), but they tend to cost £100 per month at a minimum.

My suggestion would be to use a PC within your own home (proxy'd obviously) with a minimum of a 3GHz CPU and 2GB of RAM with Windows Server 2003/2008 loaded onto it; on top of that, you're going to need to upgrade your internet connection to at least 10MB/s.

There is no ultimate cure to lag, it can be caused by so many factors, but from what I hear of your situation it is the VPS which is holding you back.

If you need any more information then feel free to PM me.

omfg , you dont have NON-ATAC-ZONE !!
HOW CAN I REPAIR IF THE ENEMY IT''S ON MY BASE AND KILL ME , AND KILL ME ? 1/10 FOR THAT GAME , MAYBE IF YOU MAKE NON-ATAC-ZONE , I WILL PLAY , BUT NOW , SORRY .

deHackerOwnz you are pretty wrong.
A well-written server software that runs headless / without graphics card can easily run 200 players on a VPS that has ~600MHZ and 2GB Ram (which won't make you poor when you rent it). You must differ between a real 3D game like the Valve Source Engine Games which makes small VPS's lag really hard (tested) and a simple 2D game where no complex calculations must be done.
The only things that the server needs to do for this game to run are:
-Holding the Login / Registration Server which is only needed when someone registers or logs in
-Spawning the Players after dead or at login
-Pushing the damages, HP and shield variables to the users.
Okay I think this was everything for now.
This game is definetly not complex but I think the Gamemaker Engine that the dev used needs a graphics card to run.

If you think that is all the server needs to do then you have clearly never even tried to write sever software for a game of this kind.

Surely it isn't everything. But it wouldn't help anyone if I'd have written:
-Drop Connection on Timeout
-Sign out users when the application is closed
and so on, I don't know where that should have leaded us. But server software for games like Darkorbit or clones is fairly resource-saving. And if that gay Gamemaker engine wouldn't need a GPU, I'm sure even a cheap VPS could easily take 100 players if only the connection speed is sufficient.
