I know you said bug reporting wasn't necessary, but I will say that it is lame I'm unable to enter Heaven's Tower to start BLM AF quests. :(

Hurray! An attitude!

it's also lame that your playing ffxi for free.
it's also lame that you don't have to work for skills
it's also lame that you get unlimited money
it's also lame that you have 15x xp
it's also lame that you have 80% faster run speed
it's also lame that you have a 70% drop rate

while we are at it.

it's also lame that we have been further developing the server out of our spare time for free.
it's also lame that we run a server and try to keep it up 24/7 for people to play on.
it's also lame that people bitch about a simple scripting issue when they could fix it, submit it and help out instead of bitch. (as if)
it's also lame that people bitch about a teeny tiny bug but won't report an exploit that they can use to get an advantage.
it's also lame that we have fixed a shit ton of other bugs that you failed to notice.
it's also lame that we even bothered to release a new server build.
it's also lame that we are building a new server from scratch.

... jackass.

Wow, you're extremely hostile. I appreciate the fact that you're continuing a once-thought abandoned project, but there's no reason for an attitude.

I've stated on this forum that I wish I could contribute in some fashion, but had no idea how. That was never responded to, so I just left it to those with the knowledge of it.

I don't play on your server, however I do use your server files, for which I am thankful. I play solo and duo with one friend. We work for skills, sell items to NPCs for gil, keep the drop rate at 1, and slightly adjust the experience rate. Exploiting ruins the fun for me. The challenge of FFXI is what kept it interesting.

I'm not bitching, I only called it lame to disguise it from being a bug report.

I'm very new to private servers and did not understand what I had reported was a widely understood bug. The way you worded your response lead me to believe you didn't want people posting lists of bugs they have found.

I had nothing but good intentions with my post. I'm sorry if you viewed it as otherwise.

Yea, The other 3 Borfax, Tofuti and Kyou are the nice ones so one of us has to be the asshole.. Which I generously volunteered for. ^^

I didn't see that in this thread, I don't read any other threads but this one atm.

Same here, I don't even play on our server because the xp/droprate is just too high. I miss the challenge but it's not really about me it's about the players and they requested such things. Granted they don't always get what they want but close sometimes.

Yea, that is why I took it as someone shoving some attitude my way. I'm a give what I get type and I just got felt some attitude from that statement in which I replied appropriately to.

If it had said something like "I know you guys are not taking bug reports but I was wondering if there was any way to fix heaven's tower."

which i would have responded.. That depends on where the problem is. There were a lot of scripting bugs that we never got to fixing from the previous devs. Most of the remaining bugs are all fixable just have to open up the proper lua in the scripts folder and figure out where the bug is.

Still, I'm not sure where the issue is, if say, walking on the portal is crashing when just trying to enter heaven's tower then that might be caused by the event bug that I finally found and patched up for the next version update.

Heavens tower works on the test server. I did manage to find a pretty major bug that had been causing the server to crash for ages. Unfortunately I don't have a release date ETA on that due to the recent updates to crafting and the mob movement that need a bit of testing before I am comfortable sending it out.

Yea, I attack things as I see them. I don't look for alter meanings so it's easier to just be straight forward and not beat around the bush. Saves us both time and any further post point mis-readings. :)

Ok, I went through the code and reverted a few updates to get this out

[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

This should clear up most of the event issues and server crashing problems.

also included:
@gm commands
-- Player can not @zone while inside a mog house.

not included:
Crafting update - mob movement.
Both of these were removed because they still need extensive testing.

I attempted to use @zone in Selbina to test if Heaven's Tower was working, but when I use @zone, even without a number following it, the server crashes.

Also, a quick question on Mog Houses. Are they supposed to work for everyone on the server? The one other person who uses the one I host is unable to use the mog storage. I, being the only other player, am able to access and store things just fine. Thank you for your time.
02/25/2011 23:18 xworndownx#234
There are 2 things that happen when you just type @zone, the first is it checks the gmcmd table to see if the character can use the command. If the gmcmd wasn't setup properly in the sql, or the character isn't in the table or the user's value for the command is not 0 or 1 then it may crash the server.

The second is that the server sends the player a /tell with a menu of the available zones a player can go to with the command. This can crash the server if you don't have admin rights and other privs.

Unfortunately this doesn't happen on our test server which is just a clean install of win7x64 with regular updates. So debugging how it's going to act on other systems or even other people's pc's is impossible since I'm not there to do it.

Everyone should be able to use the mog house and mog safe. the storage doesn't work for everyone. TBH I wouldn't trust the storage as it could eat your items. The mog house has always been broken and twitchy. Needles to say, but, those damn Moogles are very hungry with a taste for your items.

The whole server really is a mess which is why we are helping build a new one from the ground up. We are only using PXI to hold people over until the new server is ready to be populated. Which is also why we are not to worried about bugs and the like.

That sounds like a really large project! How well are you and your team progressing with that?
02/26/2011 03:02 xworndownx#236
Hooray! Found another friggen bug where certain abilities and in some cases all of them would crash the server. I do like finding shit like this but I hate that it was the day after or the same day as another update. It's kinda like "why couldn't it have been found before the last update?" Silly how the world works.

Anyways, updated the OP and the link a couple posts up with the patch download. Don't expect any patches unless another major bug is found/arises. Sorry, I really don't like to hotfix things but they are necessary at times.

@Cher: yes, it is a large project to re-write the server from scratch. It's coming along just fine. It's cleaner, faster and a hell of a lot more stable. Still have a lot of work to do but all in due time.

SERVER WIPE!

As much as I absolutely hate server wipes this isn't as bad as it sounds. I did save the old database but simply imported a new one. Now, don't get too mad/sad until after you read everything. :)

@GM command notes: Important.
These steps will get you on your way into getting back what you had and more! With the recent updates and fixes to the server stability I can open up a few things and introduce a few things. Hopefully this also clears up the inventory bug.

The goal here is for you to log into the server and follow these steps. Use the following commands w/o the quotes in order.

1: "@unlockjob" : This command will unlock all your jobs and your subjob ability then disable itself.
2: "@skill" : This will set all your skills to max then disable itself.
3: "@setlevelcap 75" : This will set your level cap to 75!
4: "@setlevel #" : This will set your current job to level #. 75 is the max. (You have to switch jobs manually in the mog)
5: "@additem # #" : This will let you add almost any item and it's quantity. (excludes gm gear)

Further Notes:
1a: Jobs will show up as level 0 until you change to them and set the level you want.
5a: I highly recommend that people don't go ape-shit with this command. Use it responsibly. If you find an item that crashes the server please report it! Remember that NOTHING beyond Wings of the Goddess and even some of WotG are not implemented or working and will cause issues.

Server changes with the above commands enabled:
XP rate is 1x
DropRate is normal.
Runspeed is 50.

This allows players to either play the game like it was meant to be played, or not. Your choice and hopefully this makes the server wipe a little less painful.

A Note and warning: The player base has always been low. If this continues then I will be closing the live server & no longer update it. I have other things I can use that PC for. Like the new server. Besides, No reason to host a server and risking SE making my life difficult if only a few people play on it. Time will tell how this goes.

I apologize for having to clear the server out.

Thank you very much for the hotfix for Heaven's Tower. I entered fine and was able to watch the cutscene for BLM AF. Very entertaining. Sadly, I'm unable to exit the tower. When I try to use the exit portal, it teleports me a few feet away from the portal.

EDIT: I restarted the server a few times and it eventually ported me out. Again, thank you for this fix.

Is there anyway to fix the cooldown for "Call Wyvern" after using /pet "Release" <me> with the Wyvern at Full HP? It doesn't seem to reset.
