I heard that soon,Joymax will no longer be developing/holding copyrights for Silkroad Online as their contract with the original Silkroad company ends.
No idea if this is completely right.

Silkroad is their game, isn't it?

afaik, this game IS Sro-2, just that Joymax is not the one making the main dev
afaik, Joymax is taking care of the mobile market now
They could just have gave the dev rights to someone else

Joymax is the original creater of the IP, I doubt they'd loose rights to their own creation

I highly doubt this, why?

-Joymax licensed a pathing engine (in their own name, you can't simply license it for another company) for a project named SRO2 (this would be quite useless for a mobile game)

-If they'd give development to another company they'd:

*Give it to another Korean company (copyright in China?)
*They publish it under their own name, or there would be atleast remarks of joymax on the new site

So all combined, I highly doubt that this is sro2, or if it's even remotely affiliated with silkroad/joymax

With all the proof, I still believe that Joymax is developing it. Why would they miss out an opportunity on another cash cow?

Whether it's a cash-cow or not they still need a budget to develop from. A game is sadly not free to make.

I'm sure they've got their budget from the first game, no doubt about it. And they probably still are now.

Yes i agree with you that they had a spike for a few years but since 2011 it has gone down and it costs a lot of money to actually host servers with hardware, pay the workers and running the company. It's not for free and to go along with a new project it takes both time and money for it so we just have to wait and see.

They are a publicly listed company, I doubt they'll have any trouble finding capital for a sequel to SRO ;)

thoughts?
I prefer playing metin2 than playing this crap..
I don't know why they call it 'Silkroad 2' even though its not the same company?
Probably they bought the copyright of name from joymax, but i don't think they will make any profit from sro 2 because there are much games similar to it and i don't see anything special in at to be honest.

While that is true, just try taking a look at their financial reports for the past 2-3 years. It has only gone one way, and that's down!

Honestly, I think they're desperate to get some quick cash in their hands so they can start focusing on mobile games.
