Originally, the file included a version number, which made things clear and straightforward. People could easily check which version they had and immediately see whether an update was available. It was simple and effective.Quote:
First of all, thank you so much for the content. I wanted to ask, is there any way we can check what is the version of the addon before we download or when was it updated?
However, forum member XyZMJek argued that the file should be left without a version number, essentially presented as it would be in the retail version. The obvious downside was that people would no longer have an easy way to determine whether the file they had was the latest version.
For months, everything worked perfectly. People were happy, there were no issues, and users could clearly see when a new version had been released.
Now, without a version number, people have no straightforward way of knowing whether the file has been updated or whether they are still using an older version.
The reality is that many people don’t read the FAQ or the information provided in the post. They simply look for the download link. So, when the version information was removed, that was essentially all they were left with: a link, without any clear indication of whether the file was new or updated.
