That code only generates a really simple hardware hash used for managing registration. It is the same kind of thing Microsoft does to ensure you are using a legal copy of Windows or Office (though I would take the output of that and make a SHA or MD5 hash out of it & use that as a hardware hash).

Its dead code tho since it isnt used.

It is the same bullshit that sends the info that everyone hates having a windows 10. Basicly they want to know your hardware id / names / clockspeed to they can work against you if you dont agree or disagree with them.

Yea we want to know that info so we can remotely overclock your pc.

I still dont understand why people cant just mind their own server and create their own shit instead of making tools with backdoors and sharing them in the first place then people finding out and making a big drama about it so far there are tools there and knowledge that you can use to make a great server even just by using a god damn hex editor.

In the end all servers are different if you have atleast 1% brain capacity not to copy paste data folder.

Who said its a backdoor? You mentioned a brain there, please make use of it.

I think you are confusing license enforcement and backdoors. They are not the same thing by any definition. fingerprinting for license enforcement is not a back door. The developer can't access your system using it. What they can do with it is send that hash code home and make sure your system is licensed to use it. If not they are also well within their rights to lock you out of using that tool. Again, not a back door but instead it is licensing enforcement.

Some folks go to great pains to create decent tools for their own use. Do you have a problem with them licensing those tools to others to use? If they want to sell the use of those tools to others and make something for their hard work what is the problem? Do you give your skills and tools out for free? Why should anyone else!

Why would you implement such thing in the first place if you trust people you work with or if you dont share it with anyone?

Who said it isnt shared? Ever heared of software which gets sold?
