In the afternoon of 5th April 2013, exactly 2 years ago, WoM2 opened its doors to roughly 300 players who had the kindness to try out our -then sketchy- project of an oldschool private server. Managed by a small team of people which included names of people which for one reason or another had to leave our team later on, like Sagiri, Tim, Paylasici, Nova, Musicinstructor, and many others who have contributed to make this game what it is today, our vision right from the beginning, was to create the best Metin2 private server ever.
In all honesty, the start was far from promising. Veteran private server players were not very keen to play a server so similar to the official one "which could get shut down at any moment". We accepted our shortcomings and tried our best to polish the rough edges in the sketch; we worked very hard to create something new and different, something that would raise eyebrows, something that would really make us proud of it. Some people, whose names are not worthy of being written here in a day like this, tried their hardest to destroy our project in every means imaginable. But we never gave up. We learned from our mistakes and became stronger. We invested every cent that you gently spent in our Itemshop back in the project. And last but not least, we never broke our promise of making the server and the team transparent, fair and honest.
And the dream turned into a reality.
While our attackers and haters sank themselves into their own mud, WoM2 started gaining attention with innovations such as the Multi Language system or the improved graphics, slowly growing in both players and quality, until it became, not very long ago, the biggest Metin2 private server in existence. The influence of WoM2 in the scene has been such, that it changed many of the standards and unwritten rules on how a private server was supposed to be. And this would not have been possible without the support of every one of the hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world, from Indonesia to California, from Denmark to Argentina, who took part in some way in this history.
An history that, today 5th of April of 2015, we promise to continue writing for as long as you want us to.
Happy birthday WoM!
