Thanks for all the reports people. You can stop reporting bugs now.

DLX is discontinuing its work on the PXI FFXI server and we are merging with another group that is building a new FFXI server from the ground up. This is a great step for us as a group and as the new server progresses it will be better for the players. The new DS server is more stable, holds much more people and will have a greater amount of content than the PXI server. Though you will not see the DS server for a while (unless we are testing something) you will still have the current DLX test server available.

A few important notes:
The current test server will remain up for everyone to play on.
I will not be wiping the database any time soon.
We will not be updating the server any further.
If people want to add new scripts to the server they are welcome to do so.

We will be releasing the current server/scripts for others to host if they wish. (no ETA)
We will NOT be releasing the test server source code as it is simply not complete.

The state of the server:
The server is in much better shape with a lot of bug fixes and additions to the core though it does need a lot of scripting done for missions, npc text. The majority of the remaining bugs are all fixable in the lua scripts/sql database which anyone can do if they have the time and desire to do it. For example, every single thing Aldoras just posted can be fixed in the scripts. Which we didn't get to as there were/are other issues that needed attending to.

I will be around to watch over the thread and answer questions here and there as time goes on but I won't be reporting any further news on the DS server until there is something to report.

Thank you all for hanging out with us and it was fun for us all to hang out with you, give you shit and yell at you now and then. ::Big Grin::

Is there a forum/thread that this new group will be using?

well if somebody can explain to me how to do it ill give it a try :) never done anything like it but you make it sound easy, so i think i only need a little starting help ^^; but will that be usable for your new project too or only on this server (and therefore a waste of time)?

@Ald

X has already said (in tunggle chat) that it would be at least 8 months or so and quite possibly upwards of a year.
02/09/2011 19:23 jowy68#201
so much BS, 8 months before seeing a server emulator thats "supposedly" more advanced than DLX.... i don't believe this.
02/09/2011 19:52 xworndownx#202
No need to get upset there Jowy. Building an emulator takes time. If you don't think that is the case then by all means build one one yourself in less than 8 months from a blank slate and lets see how well it does. The group we joined have just started this 2 months ago. Besides, it's not like FFXI is going anywhere as people always have the option to play though they just don't.

This is going to take time and no one can give a good estimate of how long. At least we decided to release the server for others to host and we didn't shut down the test server on you all. Even if only a few people play it is still there.

Its not what get me upset, its mostly that we cannot actually see the state of DS server by ourselves, and us that want to help have no access whatsoever to those sources.

You will, we do plan on having weekend tests for things. Though it will NOT be like the DLX test server that is up 24/7. It might be up for a day for tests and the like but nothing long term.

As for the DLX 24/7 server I went and made it a bit more fun.
GM Command: @additem is Disabled! (causing too many crashes)
GM Command: @setgil is enabled
DropRate is now 50% (not needed with additem but meh)
Runspeed is a tad faster.

if you don't have the item list go to the first post of the thread and download the scripts. There is an item list in it.
Have fun. :)

The server is definitely cool to have to play on while the new source is being hashed out. There is no reason at all to get upset Jowy68, since xworndownx is bending over backwards to give us a playable server for the time being in the first place. How about showing just a small amount of appreciation instead of a 3 year old temper tantrum in regards to not getting what you want.

Options:
1. Play on the current build DLX server for fun, add to the community to show our support for this awesome WORKING server, and we will all be happy in the end.

2. Build the server yourself; Get DLX source and fix everything and then you won't have to whine to us about "what you want".

This.
We can only help you connect if you have a valid working paid for FFXI account.

Don't know. You really didn't give a lot of information on what you have done so far. When in doubt go back and read the instructions again. :)
02/16/2011 00:57 MASTERXZ#209
hey additem still available or not...
02/16/2011 09:55 xworndownx#210
The additem command is off permanently. In the 2 days that it was enabled the server was crashing every 5-10min. Sometimes less. There are just too many items that crash the server and I really won't have that. At least not on the server I'm hosting.

I am planning on releasing the server soon though. I am just testing a few things and cleaning up a few areas first. When I do release it people can go and host the DLX server with any @commands they want to give people.
