Use MySQLi unless you intend on moving to PostgreSQL in the future (or you intend to use InnoDB ALOT!!). Ofcourse if you prefer the whole class thing in PHP, PDO is a must ;)

Regarding open source, it makes things hard to find bugs when everyone contributes code, especially in a project this young!

PDO is more readable for me, and I like the way you can bind your queries.

Yes, that's a good point.. You could use a repo and just approve certain changes as you see fit.

Going to bed, if the server crashes... not my problem :)

That's because there are like 20 private servers out there. I get about 2 or 3 friend requests in Skype asking for help from people who dont have a clue about coding. If this server goes open source, I will: tell jD he's gone mad, and quit the DO section. It's going to be full of 15-year old children trying to build the best private server ever with their minecraft skills.

Yea that's true making the elite's server code OS will just make troubles right now Because as barney said a lot of noobs like me that have no clues about coding will just put 2 files on theyr pc and run a thing and at the first problem a lot of kids will write "Why happened ........... Noob the original coder can't do anything Good and blah blah blah blah" and stuff like this infact it'd be' better if there would be' just few servers Made by skilled coders and that works really Good :) Btw jD told if i remember Well that he WOULD make server files OS if BP WOULD close his server but he's studying ALL the ways to make this impossibile for BP :)
