Why you should collect them? Of course for presents!
Whoever experienced the sock event from last year will remember how it works. If you don't, here are the basics:

The event will consist of two parts.
On the one hand, everybody collects socks for himself for which you get presents once you reach a certain number of socks. For this, there is no more competition! Once you have gathered the required amount with a character you can activate the reward in the "manage bonuses" menu. Every reward is only unlocked once per Account!

Furthermore it is a community event. All of you cooperate. All socks you collect as a community count and the whole server benefits if the thresholds are reached.

I guess you are wondering what kind of prices shall motivate you for collecting?
Let's begin with the single prices.
Left the number of socks required, on the right the Item you will receive.

Another important change from last year is that the socks are not exchanged for the Item, but remain in your inventory, in order to help reach the Community targets.

5.000 socks: Single-ExP x10
10.000 socks: Group-ExP x10
25.000 socks: Quest ExP x10
50.000 socks Quest-Kinah x5
75.000 socks: Gathering-EP x10
100.000 socks: Crafting-EP x10
200.000 socks: Gathering-EP x10
300.000 socks: Drop x10
400.000 socks: Crafting-Crit 50%
450.000 socks: AP-PvE x4
500.000 socks: AP-PvP x2.5

The rates you unlock will be active between 25.12.13 and 05.01.14.

Again: The single prices are available only once per account!
