Well, development would take ~3 years minimum anyways. So standard will be much higher by then. Not as unlikely as you might think.
However, still unlikely.

obviously, frostbite engine wouldn't be a great idea for mmo's, since it's designed for FPS games. However there are some 3rd party game/graphic engines who are really flexible and can perfectly work for mmo's of this kind, for example: cryengine was a really nice and beautiful engine in aion, and it was really light too.

Anyway, silkroad 1 itself is rather good, especially if you know it's the first mmo of a rather small company. So you'd be suprised to see what joymax might come up with if they decide not to use 3rd party software for graphics...

For reasons stated by Nezekan FB3 would never work, that and EA would never release the rights to the engine when they don't even offer mod tools.

However Cabal 2 uses Cryengine 3 and looks decent, that would be the best bet.

I would rather see Silkroad running on the ARMA 3 engine. Imagine a 300km² landscape with underwater surfaces.Easily modified terrain etc.

It would be so awesome

Minimum graphics cards to run ARMA III;

Nvidia: GeForce 8800 GT

AMD: Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+

Intel CPU: Core 2 Duo E4400 2.0GHz

Out of around the 1-3 million people who play silkroad(both private side, and isro) 70% of them will not meet these requirements. That's why I hope that they don't upgrade to something which is stupid as **** and nobody can run, which they won't do anyway because they will lose a vast amount of players.

That's an fps engine too, and it doesn't even look that good. CryEngine 3 would be a better alternative, if they can afford it

Actually it's not released yet, and this is very low requirements. For example this CPU and Graphic card that you listed is 5 years old. Do you know anyone with a computer older than that ?

It looks awesome, and why should a game like Silkroad run on Cryshit 3? It's not even optimized and the hardware requirements are way too high!

Here's the future, without this rendering method, the development will stop further more.
