Alright, before i say the question, please dont insult me lol because i already know its a question for beginners but here goes...

What exactly is an accessory's purpose? I know it gives us extra Str and Int and some defense against abnormal status, but does the lvl of the accessory matter? If there were two rings, 8D and 9D, both had say +5, Int 5 Str 5, and all other same attributes, would it matter which one you use?

Just came across my mind as i shopped around for nice accessories ^.^

It does make a little difference. The 9D has a better mag and phy absorption rate so that means u will have a better def just by a lil' bit. And also on 9D acc, u can have better blues such as str 6 int 6 not like 8D which is str 5 int 5 and so on.

It makes a big difference. Acc do take a hell of a lot of damage, if you + them and use the highest for your level. Try get hit, nuked, for example. by a friend.
take off your acc and see the difference.

He/She is comparing 8D and 9D acc not taking them off completely. Taking them absolutely off u would take like 5x more dmg. I'm saying 8D and 9D make a difference but not a lot.

Ontopic: Hell yeah , those accesories make a big difference. If you wanna be the best at lvl 90 you need to get that lvl 89 necklace wich is very rare and cost a lot. So why do you think people pay like 600m on ecsro for one?? It helps you take less dmg and you can win in a pvp with it.
9 Dgr accesories have more Phy and Mag absorption so you get less dmg. Did you ever see some high lvl guys dressed in 5-6-7 dgr armor and they take less dmg? Yeah they keep the rings ,earring and necklace from 9 dgr.

it just randomly crossed my mind because i have clean 9D accessories and at the moment cant afford 9D full blue accessories due to the **** 50m for one lol

But i would think that the last set of 8D accessories full blued would be better than 9D clean and no + accessories

Accessorys make nearly 50% of your Defence.
When I was Lv76 I still got my D7 Accessorys, but in that time i didnt knew that Accessorys should allways be on your Lv.
Anyways, I died alot & I was wondering why.
I took off my Accessorys & Monsters made hell of lot DMG to me.

Whats the difference between D8 & D9 ?
Maybe its not a big diefference but try to wear D9 if you can.

IMHO I would wear the none blued 9D rather than the 8D blued.

When i had my acc on mobs did 700-800 damage when i did not wear accessories they did around 1900-2100 damage.

It's pretty clear you should buy the 9dg ones and when u got cash try to make em blue and + xD
