i've done it that way and by freazing the game (jump and sit to find a changed value). in your way i can't seem to find a value, i can change in a way i always rise or in a way i can't move or get down... i will give a look into that i may be missing something...
as for the other thing using CE i think you need to see in your lvl in disassembler (the changes are made via your level mostly) i will give a closer look on to it as well.

edit1: i've found those floating points you were talking about and i've been poking them with a stick but i can seem to work anything out, can you give more guidence on what to do?
