[Tools] For Those People Who interest in SQL Databases

Hello

For those people who interest in sql db like edit or creating
i pick up some useful tools can help u in that and help u to generate script with db data (cuz this function not in sql server 2005) and helps in search in sql content (data) and in edit or delete with relation ship

here some of them

DbOctopus, browsing and editing for SQL Server with strong support for relations. Also includes SQL Editor with code completion..

------------------

Here is a great free tool for rapidly creating SQL Reporting Services Reports. Its quick, easy and will give you fully featured (filtering, sorting, summing and styled) report. Enjoy!

------------------

SQLDBDiff V3.0.0 -- This tool can compare data and schema
SQLDBSearch V2.0.0 -- This tool is used to search content or object
SQLDBSize V1.0.0 -- graphical display of sp_spaceused

These tools can be downloaded from

------------------

Performance Analisys of Logs - CODEPLEX (Useful to identify hardware bottlenecks)
SQL Nexus - CODEPLEX (Useful to identify the top n expensive statements or batches).

This two consume information from PSSDiag and SQLDiag.
(take the website link from google )

------------------

you can use it to script out all database objects from the cmd line. it's nice to automate generation of scripts for checkin to a source control system, for example.

------------------

Another tool I have found to save an incredible amount of time deploying SSRS reports is the RSScripter by Jasper @ sqldbatips.com. Link below:

------------------

It lets you connect to and explore SQL Server version 2008, 2005 and 2000. It also has the capability to search within the database (tables, views, procedures etc.), document the database, generate reports about it.

------------------

here's a list of free/open source tools I've used:
Quest Comparison Suite for SQL Server -- Free version
DBDesigner4 -- () Data modeling tool generates MySQL scripts from diagrams, small change to make scripts SQL Server compliant.
ClearTrace ()
SQLQueryStress ()
Sherlock Block Monitor ()
A decent Terminal Services Connection manager is RoyalTS ()
sqlpal -- Light weight Oracle query total that doesn't require messing with tns files. ()
GnuWin32 ports of grep, sed tr, paste, cut, etc.

------------------

ClearTrace imports SQL Server 2000 and 2005 trace (and profiler) files into SQL Server and displays summary performance information. It is designed to provide the same performance summary as Read80Trace but in a graphical environment and for SQL Server 2005.

------------------

Siccolo - free tool for SQL Server management .
at :
  • Start/Stop SQL Server Agent
  • Start/Stop/Restart SQL Server Job
  • View SQL Server Job Information - steps, schedule, execution history
  • View Available Databases and Database Objects
  • Restart SQL Server
  • Execute SQL Command and view "select command" results
  • View SQL Server Event Logs (Application, System etc)
  • Run SQL Query window (with semi-automated Insert/Update/Delete/Select Statements) Open/Save SQL Scripts in multiple tabs Save/Email results
  • Explore SQL Server Browse databases and database objects (tables/views/stored procedures)
  • Browse/Manage SQL Server jobs
  • Browse/Manage windows services (start/stop) View event logs (Application, System
------------------

Database Workbench

------------------

Try
  • Generates DML scripts (Insert/Update/Delete) in T-SQL
  • Export data to text/csv
  • Quick Download functionality for reporting srevices files
------------------

SQLpermissions: Creates a T-SQL script to automitically move or copy SQL Server logins & permissions
SQLsafe Freeware: Free SQL Server backup

------------------

SQLSpy from HybridX ()

------------------

This tool search within sql server objects.

------------------

Free tool I find extremely usefull for scripting table data is SQLScripter :

Can really save some time and has a great interface - requires the .NET runtime.

Dr. You know of any tools which will create a script or allow you to back up all of the DB or parts of the like every 6 hours or somthing? I had a look in SQL which allows you to manually backup the db but would prefer it if i could make a script where SQL would do it for me.

Also would like it to back it up like
October 20 13:00pm - DB backup
October 20 19:00pm - DB backup
October 21 02:00am - DB backup etc etc
So if ever need to rollback or restor anything its all there if you know what i mean. Thanks
