the ones saying vista runs slow:
you never runned windows XP
you have a bad/no gfx card and try to run aero
you have too many programs open.
you have 1 of these.
my pc runs 2 or 3 times FASTER then windows XP.
mainly because windows xp has a memory leak wich microsoft didnt take the time to find and fix for.
sure, it uses more RAM then win XP...
but NO blue screen 'memory drop' anymore!
now you get 'could not write/retrieve memory adress XXXXXXXXX, the application will be closed' or something like that.
closing only the program(s) that cant need more RAM then there is at that moment.
and yes, there IS a blue screen in vista.
booting goes fine... why?
i dont shut down but use the function that i also used in windows XP:
Hybernate.
what? not in xp?
it is!
only hidden and buggy in xp.
somewhere in the control panel you can enable sleep mode and then when shutting down, hold the shift button and it appears
this will do the same as sleep, only with fully shutting your pc (lights go out, fans stop, no power needed anymore.)
on next startup, it will start up and you still have all programs open and it takes away 50-90% of your boot time.
(note that you need to shut down your pc sometimes, because this keeps adding in your RAM! but vista has also a nice CPU/RAM usase meter)
but still, vista sux because almost nothing works.
when all programs work, it will be MUCH better then XP.
another note for the ones thinking aero will suck up their gfx card when playing games...
when you start a game (like CO in my case)
aero will be disabled.
when you close the game, vista will automatically enable it again
