.java files are just plain text files
.class are compiled binaries for the ****** Java virtual machine
.jar are a modified zip container to allow double clicking.

It's not rocket science, you can use anything to that edits text to edit .java files.

(This is another example of why people should teach themselves, people can't guide every single person here through every single step, you have to teach yourself the basics first)

It's not a matter of if it's Java or not.
There are many programming languages out there.

Some of them are... really niche... (Maxscript)
Some are general purpose
Some are wacky (Golfscript XD)
Some are really old school (Fortran :3)

It's more like people aren't using search engines effectively....
And also can't crank their own code, and aren't teaching themselves...

If people really want to do it, they'd be like that kid who taught themselves how to drive a car by watching videos of people driving online few days ago.

(ie, avoid spoon feeding where possible, find the food yourself and use it)
