Hello,
What's PAE? With the PAE Mod you can use more than 3,x GB of RAM under 32Bit Systems.
This tutorial works also on other Root Server.
If there are already other Threads about this Topic, then I'm sorry.
I've been often asked for it and I've also read it often here too.
I'll try to make it as easy as possible.
Recently, I've been asked often how this really works and I've read it here often too, so therefore here's
a short tutorial about how you can install the PAE Mod on a Worldstream Server.
Everything written within the CODE tags are commands.
1. Log on Putty first
then
Now, choose "Configure"
then "Distributions"
and "src".
Then in the next window dialog:
sys and base
Now EXIT all the time until you get to the FTP section.
Enter on there and press Enter at "URL".
Type in this Link:
Code:
ftp://ftp-archive.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD-Archive/old-releases/i386/7.1-RELEASE/
Depending on what FreeBSD version you use
Now wait until it's done and after this, press "exit install".
2. Now:
Code:
make buildkernel KERNCONF=PAE && make installkernel KERNCONF=PAE
Wait until it's done, now reboot your machine and the PAE Mod is installed.
+ Infinitys Fix
After Step 1
Code:
cd /usr/src/sys/i386/conf
ee PAE
Add these lines at the end:
Code:
options ALTQ
options ALTQ_CBQ
options ALTQ_RED
options ALTQ_RIO
options ALTQ_HFSC
options ALTQ_PRIQ
options ALTQ_NOPCC
device pf
device pflog
device pfsync
Save it.
Then:
and at last
Code:
make buildkernel KERNCONF=PAE && make installkernel KERNCONF=PAE
This was the Kernel build.
After this, you can proceed to fix the rest through Infinitiy's Tutorial.
reboot, Done.
I won't take the responsability for damaged Root Servers due to this tutorial, watchout to enter the correct commands.
