Hello Metin2 community!
I have made a Metin2 file extractor for this community. I have not seen any available or posted, so I think this is the first one. I know most of the posters here are German, so I have included pictures to help those users if they cannot understand this post well.
The file extractor will dump all the files in the eix/epk archives. I have tested this on Metin2.us and Metin2.de and it works fine so far. I do not have the Korean client to test, but I would think it should work there also.
Included in the source code for my project as well as a compiled version for your convenience. It was a short project (~12hrs) for fun, so that is why I am sharing it with you all. The code is very clean and comes with lots of comments.
Using the tool is pretty simple. The screenshots below should explain it all.

Even though source is included, here is a VirusScan of the file attached to the forum.
As I mention in the source code, I have no plans for making a file editor at this time. I do this for fun, experience, and to help others, that is all.

After pushedx created his file extractor I spent some
time to create a repacker for the Metin2 archive format.
The "example.xml" contains documented examples for unpacking/repacking EPack archives and the item_proto database.
The files "RootExtract.xml" and "RootPack.xml" are well documented examples for unpacking/repacking the root archive (root.epk/root.eix).

Hey Com.
Atm there are many people who publish there own Metin2 Client or „Metin2Mod“, now I want to show you how you can do it yourself.
The „BIG SPECIAL“ is at the final!!
Okay, let us start:
First you need a Metin2 Client. (To play a official Server you need a actual Client. If not you can use the 2007 Client)
Then you Download the Metin2FileExtractor( )
Now you extract your downloaded Archive to:
C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Name"
And rename the file "metin2fileextractor.exe" to "FE.exe".
Now it has to look like this:
Now drag the Metin2 Client on your Desktop
start the CMD: Start -->Execute → CMD → On the Console you paste: CMD
Now it opens the "cmd" (Command Prompt):
Now you Tipe in: FE "C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Name"\Desktop\Metin2\pack" locale_us
Now it has to look like this:
When you press the button ENTER, the following has to come up:
Now switch to the Directory:
"C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Name"\output"
Now, there is a Directory named "locale". If not, you've done something wrong.
Now, you drag this Directory in your Metin2 Client.
( "C:\Documents and Settings\"Your Name"\Desktop\Metin2"):
Well.
Now you switch the Directory „Pack“ in the Metin2 Client and you rename the following files: "locale_us.eix" and "locale_us.epk" in "locale_us_02.eix" und "locale_us_02.epk":
Now you prepared your Metin2 Client to start with your Mod.
Now go to:
"C:\Documents and Settings\“Your Name“\Desktop\Metin2\locale\us":
Here you can change all what's ingame, for example: The ItemCharacteristics (attention! Just Clientside) If you want to do this, you have to edit the following files:
"locale_game"
"locale_interface"
"itemdesc"
If you want to censore words, or remove the censored words you have to edit the file "insult".
The Skill Characteristics you can edit in the file "skilldesc" and "skilltable".
Now: „THE BIG SPECIAL“:
You can edit the „application restrictions“ from the skills.
(For example: you can buff people from other states.)
If you want to do this, edit the file „skilldesc“ and search for your skill you want to modify.
For example:
Remove the row from „“SKILLNUMBER“ „WARRIOR OR WHAT U WANT“
„SKILL NAME“ the last row : NEED TARGET and save the file:
And now you can use Und this skill without a target xD
So, you can do that with all the skills.
What does'nt work is to change the Damage from the skills. When you edit the skilltable it shows more, but it does'nt work ;(

If you make 1000 dmg to a mob, its a number with 2 different numbers, 1 an 0. If you change the 1 and the 0 with another number, for example the with a
5 and the 0 with a 9, when you hit the mob again, you'll make 5999 damage.
You make the following:
Extract the „effect.eix“ and the „effect.epk“ how it explained it.
Now switch to the Directory: "C:\Documents and Settings\“Your Name“\output\ymir work\effect\affect\damagevalue"
and change either the „damage_“ pictures or the „targes images“
(target = dmg that u make // damage = dmg that the mobs make)

[HowTo] Change Weapon Texture (For example: LVL 1 Weapon show as 75 Weapon)
In the pc2.epk are the skills from female Warrior, Female Sura,
male shaman's and male ninjas. The rest is in the pc.epk
To edit the textures, you need the .dds Plugin for gimp or Photoshop.
For example if you want to change the Level 1 Armor for the level 66 armor you have to extract the root.epk/eix and edit the warrior_m.msm, then by group shapedata 02 nahan change it for 4-1. Now it has to look like this:
If you want to do the same, but with a Weapon, you've got to extract the item.eix/epk.
Tehn go in the archive output\ymir work\item\weapon.
Change for example the 00010.gr2 with 00180, then you've changed the level 1 sword with the level 75 Sword. The number's are the Item Value
EDIT: Very Important! The Ymir archive has to be on the D: Disk, you have to do a new partition, or add a new Hard-Disk.
Thats All, of course you can extract other „eix/epk“ files and change the Login Screen, or the Serverlist.
Very Important: If you don't want that the Patcher from the Server edit the files agein, you have to rename the „metin2.bin“ in „metin2.exe“ And start it with this .exe.

[How To]Dateien richtig entpacken und packen! [Mit Screens]
Hi Community,
I see that there are very many people with problems to pack the files with the .xml. For this Reason, I will publish this Tutorial.
Please don't be so Critical about it, it's my first Tutorial. Lets Start
1. First load the File from the Appendix.
2. Then extract them to C:\
3. The Directory is named „FR“. If you want, you can change it name, but then you have to correct the path in the xml file.
The content of the path C:\FR:
4. Now, you choose a file you want to extract.
For this, you open the Directory with your client and then open the Pack Directory. There are always 2 files with the same name, one with the .eix file and, and the other got .epk as fileend.
For this Tutorial I will use the PC (.eix/.epk)
Then you copy the pc.eix/.epk- to C:\FR
Then it will look like this:
If you renamed your directory then the path will be different
6. Well, now there are some files:
-Source (Is the directoy where the extracted things end)
-m2 (Is the Application what pack/extract your files)
-NPC_ex (Is the Extract file)
-NPC_pack (Is the Pack File)
7. Now, rename
NPC_ex and NPC_pack
in pc_ex and pc_pack . (Because you want to extract the pc.eix/epk)
It will look like the following:
(If you want to extract another file you have to change the PC_ex in the filename you want to extract!)
8. Now open the pc_ex with Notepad++ (Rightklick, "Edit with Notepad++")

10.Well, now extract the PC.epk/eix. Do the Following:
-go to Start->Execute-> type "cmd" in. Then it opens a black windows, The Command Prompt.
-Type "cd C:\FR" in. (without the " ") Then Enter.
-Then type "m2 pc_ex.xml" in, and press ENTER again.
11. Wait till the Files had extracted .
Then it will look like this
12. Then, when it finished, switch the Archive Source

14. Then in pc

15. There you can change what you want. Now I will change the Sparkle-
16. Switch the archive common
17. Then effect
18. Now, there are different directorys, armor and sword.
19. I will edit the Sparkle of the armors.
20. There are 3 ImageFiles.
21. You can change them how you like (with a ImageEditor For example: Paint or Photoshop..)

22. Now save the edited Image-
23. Pack the files again.
You do the Following:

1.3 type "cmd"
1.3.1 "cd C:\FR" Then ENTER
1.4 Then "m2 pc_pack.xml" (without " "). Then Enter, again.
1.5 Now, the files will be packed again.

1.6 The old pc/eix.epk will be overwritten by the new ones.

Btw:
You don't have to change the pc_pack, it will edit itself.
Now, you put the new packed files in the Client and start the Game.

Hi,
I see many people with problems by packing/extracting the Metin2 Pack files.
I've made a simple Tutorial:
Lets Start:
First, we need the Extraction helper (Thx toMrCracker)
The Dl Link:
Do all what's on the Image:
Häkchen setzen= Check this box
Hier die Epk Dateien hinziehen= drag the Epk File to this box
So, now klick on Start, the Epk Files will be extracted and the xml file will be created.
(You need it later to pack it again)
Now, there will come a Directory named Source enter it and you will see your extracted files.
If you want to pack them again, drag the xml file to the m2.exe.
Now it will save the changes in the old EPK.

[HOW TO] edit the item_proto
Well, I've seen in many Threads people who asked how to edit the item_proto. For this reason, I made this Tutorial:
First download the File Archiver from tim66613.
Extract it to C:\FA (Create the folder before)
copy the Locale_de/Locale_hongkong, (Client Language) to C:\FA
Then extract the locale_de_ex.xml/locale_hk_ex.xmldann nehmt die locale_de_ex.xml/locale_hk_ex.xml (dependent on your Client) from the Appendix, then open the CMD and type "cd C:\FA" and then
"m2 locale_de_ex.xml"/"m2 locale_hk_ex.xml" (of course without the ")
Then, copy & paste the item_proto from the extracted to C:\FA,
Then extract the ex_ip.xml from the appendix.
Type in CMD"m2 ex_ip.xml" (again without the ")
Now it will extract the item_proto.
Now it creates a file named: item_proto_dump.xml
Now you can edit it with a Text-Editor, I recommend Notepad++

With this Tutorial you can implement new Items in your server.

[VTUT] Import/Export gr2 files in 3dsMax7 & .eix .epk extract
That is my first Guide
Here you will learn to:
- Extract the .eix/.epk files
- Import and export the .gr2 Metin2 Model Files in 3ds max.
The Weapon modeling is your job
You need the following programs:
-3ds Max Plugin Expotron
Copy the files in the /plugin folder & and copy the granny2.dll again in the Main Directory.

M2Loader - One Client for all servers

What is the M2Loader?
The M2Loader Allows you to Connect with any Client to Any Server.
How do I use the M2Loader?
- Put the M2Loader in Your Metin2-Client folder (usually on C:\Programs\Metin2_*Your-Nation*).
- Start theM2Loader.exe.
- In the Window you now can put in the Server-IP with the Edit Button-.
- After putting the Server IP into the boxes, klick again on the Edit Button, and it will Save the Server IP.
- Then, to Start Metin2 klick on the Botton „Run Metin2“.
- Now choose any Server and Channel and you log into your Server.
Wie finde ich die IP-Adressen und die Ports eines Servers heraus?
- Start Metin2.
- Log into the Server.
- On the Character Selection, go to the Windows Desktop!
- Start -> Execute -> "cmd".
- Now it has to open the Command Promt. Type netstat -n.
- Now it shows you all the Connections..
- The last 3 Rows are the Interresting ones. In the row Remote Adress you see the Server IP before the „:“ and the Port after the „:“.
Now you've got the Server-IP and you can type them in your M2Loader.

So, now you create a file what downloads the online Status and later that it starts your Client.

[How To] Edit Textures on any maps
Hi Com,
I want to explain you how to edit the Textures.

File Extractor:
You'll find it ---> <--- Extract it, etc. You have to know this already
Metin2 Folder:
There's a good folder from NeonBlue, but I think that everybody has got a Metin2 Folder, Please do not pn me for this Reason!
My Tutorial:
1. You have to download and extract the File extractor and the Terrain.epk/eix and the textureset.epk/eix at your Desktop.
2.Now there is a "m2.exe", "Terrain.epk","Terrain.eix","textureset.epk"," text ureset.eix", a texturesetExtract.xml" and the "TerrainExtract.xml".
3.To extract the textureset.epk and textureset.eix you have to drag the textureset.xml to the m².exe.
4.Think about what maps you want to edit. I decided to edit Map1 and edit the ground.
5.Open the Terrain folder and klick of the ground you want to have on your map. I will for example, map1 in the Blue Kingdom a desert ground.(Terrain folder-->"n"--->"desert"--->"sand"--->sand01.dss)
6.I want to have all maps with the desert ground (Map1 Blue;Map1 Red,Map1 Yellow)in this Case:
a=red kingdom
b=Yellow kingdom
c=Blue kingdom
I switch the Folder "b"--->"grass" and I see 12 files:
grass01.dss,
grass 01_01.dds,
grass 01_02.dds,
grass 01_03.dds,
grass 01_03_01.dds,
grass 02.dss,
grass 02_01.dds
grass 01_03_01.dds,
grass 03.dss,
grass 01_03_01.dds,
grass 03_03.dds,
grass 03_04.dds
and
grass 03_05.dds
6.nun I multiplicate my "sand01.dss" by twelve and I edit the names in:
grass01.dss,
grass 01_01.dds,
grass 01_02.dds,
grass 01_03.dds,
grass 01_03_01.dds,
grass 02.dss,
grass 02_01.dds
grass 01_03_01.dds,
grass 03.dss,
grass 01_03_01.dds,
grass 03_03.dds,
grass 03_04.dds
und
grass 03_05.dds
7.I overwrite in the folder "b"--> grass with the 12 new files.
8.now look in the folder c1,b1 or a1 in what terrain folder its accessing.
The blue kingdom access to "b" (c1)
The red kingdom access to "b" (a1)
The yellow kingdom access to "b" (b1)
I overwrote them and now its correct..
(Of course, you can edit it how you like)
9.Now, you pack the TerreinPackGen.xml and the TexturePackGen again.
10.Now put the terrain.epx and eix in your Pack folder

[HowTo] Implement Korea Textures
Hi,
Today I want to explain you how to implement the Korea textures in your Client!
What you need:
-Metin2 File Extractor -Newest Korea Clien [
-Own Client
Tutorial:
1. Extract the patch1 in the pack folder from your Korean client
2. Extract the Terrain and the Tree file from your Pack folder from your own client.
3. You copy the Terrain and the Tree folder from the patch1 folder into your Client Terrain and Tree.
3. Rename the old archives to for example Terrain_02, Tree_02
4. Copy the extracted files to
D:\ymirwork\tree
D:\ymirwork\terrain
5. Restart the Client

I haven't done the textures!

€dit: is the Zin Map completly fixxed. (The Design!)

What do I have to do??

Then extract the file and put it into the Pack Folder.
Then you've got snow on the Ground

Wieso schreibt ihrs nicht auf Deutsch. Euer Englisch ist grausig und es kommen eh gleich wieder Fragen à la was heisst x, was heisst y.
Sonst nicht schlecht, aber es gibt schon haufenweise solcher Threads.

Does anyone knows how to reload quests on maxmi serverfiles?
on daroo was cd /usr/home/game/share/locale.... && pyton make.py

This is an old Thread, no need to push it.
I dont know the files, try sh make.sh in the quest directory.
