Level Up! Brings Sci-fi MMOG RF Online in the Philippines
Date Posted: May. 24, 2005
Level Up! recently signed a publishing agreement with Korean developer CCR for the local release of RF Online, a unique MMORPG that combines fantasy and science fiction.
The first English version of the game, Philippine RF Online is expected to be the next hit in MMOGs, following its Korean counterpart that is currently fast catching up with Lineage 2, Korea?s no. 1 game.
?There are so many science-fiction fans in the country, as evidenced by the cult status of Star Wars and Star Trek, so we can?t wait for people to get their hands on RF Online,? relates S[BAD]a Paul, Level Up! Marketing Head. ?Seeing the impressive mecha, space ships and machinery of RF? The combination of magic and tech weapons made us so excited to sign this game up. We are extremely proud to be working with CCR on the first English version of the game, especially as we know there?s already a following worldwide who actually love the game so much that they play the original Korean version, ? she adds.
RF stands for ?Rising Force?; a race vs. race conflict between three powerful clans fighting for control over the rare minerals of the Talic mines. Set in Nouvous, a place where magic exists together with high technology. The Bellato and the Cora fight with arms and swords, as well as more modern equipment such as energy weapons and missiles. Meanwhile, the third race called Accresians, are cyborgs who have forsaken all flesh for the power of steel. Because of this, they have no access to magic, though their technology is superior to the others. Whichever race controls the mineral production of the Talic mines has control over the planet.
Besides the unparalleled graphics and beautiful character design of RF Online, other compelling features are the race vs. race wars and mine raids, where the winning race can mine for valuable minerals while other races organize raids to steal from the mines. There is also a rulership system where high-level characters who rise to the top of the ranks can attempt to run for ?ruler?, a leader and spokesman for their race.
Level Up! is targeting its BETA release this September 2005. Watch out for the upcoming RF teaser site!
