Battlefield 1 Beta: Everything You Need to Know

The time has come again: In a few days developer studio DICE, in cooperation with publisher EA, will start conjuring the full war shooter experience on our monitors once more. For the time being it will be only in a limited extent as part of the Battlefield 1 beta, but that should already be enough to leave one or another gamer's heart beating a bit faster. In the beta we are thrown into a barren desert landscape named Sinai where we may test two different game modes: Rush and Conquest.

I do not know about you, but a majority of our humble gaming community is already extremely hyped for the upcoming beta test. It is not only the long-awaited wish to finally experience a high-quality shooter again, but rather the urge to explore, dominate, and conquer the blazing hot battlefield to the east of Al-Jifar. Be it on the ground in a breathtaking desert landscape, or up in the skies above the majestic rock formations of the country, one thing is for sure: It will be awesome.

Some of you should already have seen a highlight of the dusty wasteland before. If a team loses their hope to win the battle and it seems lost, a huge armored reinforcement train enters the fight. With its deadly arsenal of weapons, you have once more the chance to take over control of the situation and change the battle's outcome in your favor. Sounds a bit mean at first, but with plenty teamwork and enormous firepower even this vehicle is liquidatable.

But if you think this is all for now, you should know there is still more. Besides the opportunity to control a totally crazy armored train, you can leap onto a horse, from where you can fight with a saber or a rifle, and ride across the dunes into battle. The horses are not only a perfect infantry unit for taking out foot soldiers, but also allow you a fast ride around bigger vehicles to incapacitate them with high explosive charges and grenades.

The open beta officially starts on August 31; members of EA Inside gain access one day earlier. There are already heavy speculations about how long the testing phase will last, but the publisher revealed nothing specific so far. According to a leaked press release the event is going to last for nine days and end at September 8. However, let us look forward to the start for now.

The finished game is going to be released for all common platforms on October 21, 2016. The planned early-access release happens three days before, thus on October 18. What do you think about the newest Battlefield? Will it be the best shooter of this year, or did you glance at something else already?
